Just a simple warning and heads up........The TAP Corporate Level is guilty of censorship on their members forum. They claim that they are better than the APA because they provide an open forum for their members. They screen all posts before posting them and disapprove any posts that do not side with their viewpoint. Members are not allowed to offer any constructive criticism that could possibly improve their league, due to the fact that they would rather shed a false light of how absolutely perfect they are. Furthermore, if you have a dispute that you are not able to resolve at the local level, they forward any letters to the Corporate office to the league operator without any acknowledgment of receipt. They send a clear message, either agree with the way we are doing things or you will be deemed as rude and disrespectful and will be denied access to their board.
I simply made a suggestion to those attending their National Tournament this year, to make sure that they eat a full meal prior to arriving. This was because of our experience with two previous TAP National Tournaments. According to the schedule that we were provided, it said there would a welcome party the first night with food provided. The first time we arrived a little late and there were nothing but crumbs on the banquet table, we had no idea what sort of food was provided but since there were no mini tournaments that night, we had the opportunity to go and get a meal elsewhere. The following year, we showed up at the Welcome Party on time, we did not eat prior to arriving. The only "food" that was provided were chips, pretzels and nuts. We were entered in a mini tournament that lasted until 1am, everything was closed by the time we left. I was not posting to say that I didn't appreciate their welcome party but just as a heads up to people that might not be able to abstain from eating all night. The moderator contacted me and said that my response was too "negative" to post. He also made it a point to tell me that they paid $10,000 for beer so everyone could have free beer. Irrelevant to my post since I made no mention of the free alcohol, but in response I informed them that I didn't think it was an appropriate message to provide the players a non-stop flow of free alcohol the night before a major level tournament. I didn't drink any of their cheap draft beer, I had no desire to get drunk the night before I had to go play. I guess some players entered in the singles (which TAP does not provide transportation or hotel costs) do not mind footing the cost of the trip and then wasting their chances with a hangover. These opinions were deemed rude and disrespectful and as of today, I was deleted as a member of the board.
