Yo guys, I'm new here. Nice to meet you all.

I'm going to Tokyo, Japan July 17 - August 20, on the premise of study abroad, but really it's an excuse to have a vacation and play some pool...internationally!

So, do any of you guys live in Tokyo now and/or know the good spots to hit in Tokyo for pool? I don't know where exactly in Tokyo I'll be living, but I hear pretty much everything is accessible by train.

Thanks for the help.

Mullyman, and Monchiwai are in Japan. Monchiwai in the Tokyo area. I returned from my 19 years of living there just over two years ago. I lived in the burbs right outside of Tokyo, so most of the places I hung out were not exactly 'train friendly.'
You will however, not have a diffucult time finding places within walking distance from any of the major stations (Shibuya, Shinjuku, Tadadanobaba, ect.)
Have fun, wish I could be there!!

I live in Mitaka area and am looking for a great spot. Pool is pretty popular, so there are many ok or good rooms. Also, they are pretty meticulous about cleaning balls and tables between customers.

I got a PM from the original poster. Unfortunately I don't know a whole helluva lot about the Tokyo area. I wouldn't even begin to know where to tell him to go.

nksmfamjp, I don't think I've ever been to Mitaka other than taking the Chuo Line through Mitaka Station. Considering how dense those major Chuo Line stops are, I'd be surprised if there isn't something close by.

Pm replied...

I can show you around the Pool halls here ;)

And yes, everything is covered by Train. You will be amazed (at least I was when I first came) when you look at their train map.

All these people over here, why haven't we had a get together? I'll be in Tokyo next weekend. I have plans on Friday night but am totally open on Saturday. Saturday afternoon would be fantastic.

I'm in Miyagi right now, but I'll probably be in Tokyo for a night on the 22nd of July. I'll be playing at Bagus in Shinjuku most of that night if you want to hit some. IMHO, that Bagus is the best one (formerly Sometime Billiards).

Mullyman, give me a call 090 7199 7617 or keitai mail chiwai@softbank.ne.jp
I will be available after 3pm on Saturdays...

Masa, I will be overseas on the week of 19th July for a week... if your schedule changes for whatever reasons, let me know!

If you are in Ikebukuro, check out Rosa Game Center. They have many pool tables and darts on one of the floors.

- Within a few minutes walking distance from the station
- Decent price, and they don't force you to buy a drink (many places do)
- You can choose the equipment you play on and pay a tiered price

They also have pretty reasonably priced drinks if you want 'em.

I was there for the Japan Open this year. That was also a great place to play. The private room(s) is pretty awesome.

Monchiwai, I'll just be passing through that weekend (I like to stay over night in Tokyo when I fly back to the US), Maybe I'll catch you on the way back.

Sure my friend. Just let me know your itinerary and we arrange something...

Glad someone else has heard of it.

Anyway, I certainly don't recommend Bagus, unless you like to burn money ;)

I played at another place in Shinjuku that was also really reasonable but the name escapes me now, unfortunately. Definitely was not Bagus.

I've played the Kichijoji bagus and it is ok. It is close which is good. I might have to look at the Rosa. PM Me if you are interested in playing tonight, or better next weekend in Tokyo area.

Monchiwai and I met up at Bagus and to be honest, their prices weren't any worse than any other place. At least compared to Shizuoka prices.
