Dan and I had made a deal on Wednesday night to make a trade for his Phillippi cue he has for sale on AZB. We both agreed that I would ship my cue to him on Friday and if he liked it he would ship the Phillippi to me. I packaged up the cue and as I was leaving to ship the cue this morning when Dan message me that he decided to take a cash offer instead of the trade we had previously agreed to.

His justification was that since "we had to both agree to accept each cue" that we didn't really have a deal. He message me since he didn't want me to ship out the cue knowing he was going to send it back and didn't want to lie to me. In my book we had a deal and he shouldn't of taken any other offers. He then offered to possibly make another deal on another cue and I responded that I am done making deals with him.

What do you think?

I say to just move on. There are plenty of other cues to be had out there.

Sometimes things happen for a reason. Maybe this just wasn't the deal for you.

You did have a deal. I know it's not the end of the world in the Grand Scheme of things. But to me you both were in a agreement on terms. To me he should have held up his end of the agreement.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but you are correct. He just didn't honor it.

I've dealt with him before and he's a pleasure to do business with.

He changed his mind before things were shipped, potentially saving a bigger issue that could have transpired. I'd just move on.

Deal Breaker?

Dan has tried to make amends on this by trying to complete our original deal. I said we shouldn't since it would upset the other buyer. I wouldn't of been upset if he would of called me and explained the situation first. For example he could had me match the offer but he didn't. He just sold it out from under me. I know there are hundreds of cues out there and I am moving on. I just wanted to know if I was out of line or not.

I think that would have been the proper thing to do.

Dan is a good guy though. If you work with him he'll prabably make it up to you.

1) To me he could have just said nay/no after receiving it and shipping would have been lost for both of you..as this only appears to be a tentative deal with condition that he like it.

2) if he said received a better offer maybe you would feel like he was milking it.
But I too would like to have first dibs to match as you would have.

I'm sure you'll find another that will catch your eye..Just like women..>>LOL

In my opinion until the merchandise actually changes hands the deal is not done and either party is allowed to back out.

Dan is a good guy and I think we all know cash is almost always king.

That being said, if it were me that had the cash offer, I may have asked you if it's going to ruin your day and if a yes I'd be committed to our trade deal.

It does say that he messaged you to undo the deal before shipping.

If it were not happening the next day, maybe I'd ask to get back together Friday to see if all is still good.
