I joined a BCA sponsered league this year with the intent of going to Vegas in May and try my luck in the singles event. Don't think I am going to make it this year but I wanted to ask some of the guys that post on here if and who has gone before and there best finishes. There are a lot of guys from my league that go every year and a few of them have gotten into the top ten in the open division, nobody has won it but close. BTW I am from WI

I plan to also in the next few years. A guy I played with in Seattle, Tyler Luce, got 2nd in the open 8ball a few years ago..maybe last year. I think he said he won 6 hill-hill games to get to point. Tough tourney. With that many players you have to win like 11 matches to get to point. Who knows how many in the losers. Lot of pool.

Hi Nineball Tim,

I've been going to Vegas for about nine years. The first year I was going there to win. I got one / two'ed out. This is bar pool with 2000 entrants. You can draw that years number one player or a guy that can't hold a cue. The second year through the fifth I finished in the top 48 till they moved me up to the Masters. I finished 17 - 24 for the last three years straight in the Masters. There may only be 240 + players in the Masters but their all top guns. This year I'm escaping to the Senior event. If you do not get the required minimum number of league games in or if you are not a league member, they put you in the Masters regardless of your ability! Go, have fun, pay attention, learn. Don't have unrealistic expectations. Ronnie Wiseman was the last "player" to sneak in.

Our team won the open 2003 and one of my team mates won the open, beating Tyler in the final, "We got him the double" was what we promised him when he won it. :)
Tough tournements with so many entries and 7' bar boxes.
But makes the win that much sweeter knowing how hard it is.
See you you all there this year.
Cheers

Yeah I heard he got doubled by Carlos. Also heard he pulled a sneaky move by placing a moved object ball 6 inches over from where it was tapped from to block another of Tylers balls. And when Tyler grabbed it to move it back to where is should have been, it was then a foul by the referee and BIH for Carlos. Guess those are the rules, still kind of CS putting the ball there. Carlos is a damn great player from what I hear though. Anyone who can be down 4-0 in the finals and wins all the rest of the games deserves to be first. Good to chat with another northwest coaster.

I know there was some controversy in the final rack, but I don't think it was intentional, and the rule kinda stinks.
But it was a good win regardless. We been on the same team for a couple years and he's a good guy, misunderstood maybe, but a good guy all the same :)
