Would be nice to go to a site, get an up-to-date list with pictures of rooms in Miami... and have them rated.

Anyway, looking for best pool rooms in miami area. Good players and clean place.

The best Miami room is Sharpshooters
(305) 596-0588, 7200 SW 117th Ave, Miami, FL 33183
Gold Crown tables, Simonis cloth. Full liquor and some food. Go on Thursday night to see the players as thats when they have the local handicapped tournament.

Alternatively,

Sunset Billiards
15770 Sunset Drive, Miami, 33193-5060
Great new poolroom, only been open a few months now. Has great new GC IV tables. Best night to go is Wed night as thats the tournament night. The tournament is still a bit sparse as the room is new but the owner and the TDirector are very cool and love the game.

Somewhat recommended but not alot
Inside Billiards (best night is Mon for the tournament)
Bird Bowl (better know how to speak Espanol)

If you are in the area, I really recommend that you also check out Hollywood Billiards, which is about 15 miles north of Miami. Go Tuesday night, but really thats the place to go for action. Just about any night you have guys matching up. Lots of world beaters so be forewarned.

I've played at Hollywood billiards a few times (3). I was able to get some games. I remember one time there I enjoyed a great game of golf on the snooker table.

You forgot New Wave...maybe the best 3-Cushion pool room on the East Coast next to SL Billiards. Again, you need your Spanish to English translation manual. Then there is our old haunt, Pegs Pocket...not alot of strong players but a fun daytime atmosphere and no translator required.

I used to play at new wave every day, although no one speaks much english everyone is very friendly, and dont forget maloneys place,is kenney still running bird bowl? back then dan carlson played real strong out of pegs, have fun

Sadly, Kenny LeBar passed away...he wrote the only <to my knowledge> offical rules for GOLF on the snooker table. He owned a pool room decades ago <laughs to himself> and he hadda Pit Bull that wondered around the place. Folklore has it that a unsavory dude kicked his dog and Kenny blew him away witha 12 gauge!! Kenny was a no-BS guy and I miss him dearly.

Danny Carlson on the other hand doesnt live in Miami any longer. He is up on the west coast living the life of a fisherman. He can be found at Capones on Sundays...teaching anyone that wants to learn, for free.

Steve, I would not recommend New Wave to my worst enemy. The last time I was down there (ages ago) I couldnt get the person behind the counter to understand a lick of english and then later after we left someone was stabbed by the lil wanna be latino gangbangers in there. I hate that place. If you have to play billiards, there is a new room opening in Doral soon
Doral Billiards
Address: 7800 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33122
Phone: (305) 592-8486

I stuck my head into there the other day during lunch hr. They had at least 4 or 5 heated billiard tables already setup and were in the process of setting up the pocket billiards tables. Not sure what kind of pool tables they were---maybe Olhausens. Im pretty sure they werent Brunswicks.

hey thats to bad about kenny,he was a good guy,I bought a pistol off him one night that I still have.I enjoyed playing at pegs also, and going next door for a beer, good times

Dave...your right!! I remember going in there one night and seeing a metal detector at the doorway {I was packin' and it didnt go off}. Shortly after playing I was at the counter and two kids were beating the sh!t outta each other in the parking lot. Had nothing to do with me so I kept walking. The gang situation over there really never bothered me too much but its alive and well. Thats also the area where that National Gaurdsman raped & killed those FIU college students years back.

BUT...Hernando still holds the US Open 3-C tournament there and I always go to at least one day of that!! Meet me at Shooters, I'll pack the heat!!! HAHAHAHAHA:D

I'll be there tonite to try to bust Jose at one pocketo. :-)

I stuck my head back into Doral Billiards this afternoon. The room is really taking shape. I was wrong about the pool tables, they are Brunswick Metros. They have 19 pool tables and 6 heated French billiard tables. Really nice equipment and they have about 50 or 60 cherry stained super comfy players chairs. You know the type with a notch to hold your cue and a drink holder with a cork cushion bottom on both hand rails. The room will be very very nice.

The billiard tables have been setup for a few months now and already there were 6 guys in there playing 3 cushion. Really friendly bunch, I played an hrs worth of three cushion and they gave me a few pointers for a game I am nearly devoid of experience in. The owner told me he was going to run tournaments and that Ming Ng was going to be their house pro. One of the Metros was setup for one pocket action with triple shims and maybe 4.5 inch pockets. Looked closer to 4.25, definitely a tough table to run out on. They told me they plan to open by Jan 1 and I think I will become a lunch time regular up there as its only 3 min from my office.
