Trying to decide on 4th cue in collection

I am trying to find a new cue, I have ran a few racks with a couple that I am looking at and I am leaning towards the Stealth brand, the Ghost Cue to be specific and I was wondering a few things.

Does anyone here know anything as to their durability? I keep all my cues in hard cases, my two playing cues get kept in an Action 2x2 hard case, and I really want to make sure that they aren't cheap cues that will break with a strong break of a rack (I have broken a few cues that way, mostly very cheap cues)

Also, one other question I have is if anyone knows of a custom cue maker that I can get a decent sneaky pete cue for under 300? I doubt this is possible but it can't hurt to check.

Thanks Guys/Gals!

This is most definitely possible. There are plenty of quality custom cue makers out there who can supply you with a top notch sneaky at or under the $300 mark. Just on this board alone, Jim Sickles and Kevin Varney are a couple names that come to mind -- good guys who you may want to get in touch with...

You could also try to find a deal on a used (or maybe new) Bob Frey or Keith Josey sneaky pete. They make real good ones, IMO -- and they're right around your price range. You could also look around for a Mark Bear, a Jerico, or a Diveney...amongst others.

Just depends on what'cha like.

Wow, just took a look at all of them and they are all in a good price range, then I snuck a peak at Sickles cues, and the Ebony Sneaky Pete cue he has on there is beautiful.... Although I have to admit I am kind of clueless when it comes to a lot of the specifications like wood and everything like that but still, very very nice.

Thinking of going with a Sickle SP, that Ebony one just looked so nice

www.dzcues.com would be my choice in that price range...actually under that price range.

I played with one for years. Sold it when I got my sugartree

A couple

My first choice would be an Andy Gilbert Jump Break...the best player you will get and you can grow into it and make it a dedicated breaker, but with a good playing tip will knock your socks off, brand new about 375, used between 250-300.

Next would be BCM cues Bryan Mordt, newer cuemaker that makes a cue that hits a ton is BHQ Brent Hartman, he can make you what you want to your specs well within your price range, perhaps with 2 shafts.

$300 will just about get you a new basic Bob Frey sneaky. That's gonna be hard to beat in both quality and playability.

In regards to adding a Stealth or a Ghost cue to your collection. Just a suggestion, but if you are looking at production cues, you might look at the lower end McDermotts or Vikings. The both have outstanding warranties that are hard to beat.

Dominiak Cue

I'd suggest a Dominiak WD1020, can get one now with two shafts for $159.00 after the price increase starting May 1st. Before then would be $139.00, including shipping. You can get them without wraps as well. Not a sneaky pete, but is wrapless. I have one wrapless and one wrapped on the way. Should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Check them out at www.dominiakcues.com tell him Tony Clark, sent you his way.

Those are actually nice cues, my only question is if the Irish Linen is the only thing he wraps his cues with or if he would do leather wrapping for an extra charge?

But still, very nice cues, thanks for all your suggestions guys, I have been looking more towards the Mcdermotts but I want to find a place that has a few I could run a few balls with just to feel them out.

around $300....

More than likely there are still some custom cuemakers out there that can get you into a brand new, basic plain-jane (non-sneaky) around $300. Probably some up and coming cuemakers or even some of the more established ones even. Something like what's pictured below.

IMO - you're better off spending $300 with a US made cuemaker vs. something factory-made overseas where a retailer possibly paid $40 or $50 for with a $300 retail price. Always good to keep the money here when you can IMO (and unfortunately that's not often enough nowadays). At either rate, it's good to do your homework.

Yeah after looking around I think I am going to work with Jim Griffin there and hopefully get one ordered and started, I can't wait, it will be my very first custom cue, the rest of the cues I have owned are all production cues and I have been wanting to get myself a nice custom one that I know is fairly one of a kind. It's a pride thing *shrugs* :D
