Turning an One piece cue into a 1/2 cue

Help needed!

Hi folks, I’m thinking turning my one piece snooker cue into a center joint cue. Just wondering what type of joint offers the best playability and makes the cue still feel like one piece? Should I use piloted or flat joint? English style brass joint or American Style big pin wood to wood? Or I should use a G10 for the weight? What type of joint do you think makes the least impact on the feel of a center joint cue?

Any advise is welcome! Thanks!

Blind tests have shown that players cannot tell what joint there is on a cue when it's hidden. Any joint that is solid and tight will work. Metal joint vs G10 will have an impact on the weight distribution but it's a preference there's no right or wrong. If you're installing it yourself go with whatever is available and you're comfortable with based on your skill level.

I think G-10 will give the most natural feel and won't change your weight or balance enough to notice. I would put Juma or Phenolic rings on both sides of the joint for strength.

Not a cue maker but you might get / keep more value in the one piece cue keeping it as is and either selling or trading it and then getting a two piece jointed cue. Otherwise, my guess after a couple of quick searches, the cost to cut, add a new pin, tap the shaft and refinish could be between $125 and $250 or even more...
