I thought I read somewhere that folks were boycotting it. Is that incorrect,
are players going to play?
Where does it stand with the players getting paid?

On the home page of AZB, click bottom right "US Open 9 Ball" link - there's a handful of articles. From them I gleaned:

Players are fully paid. This year all added monies will be escrowed. They reduced expenses by moving, etc, and so they claim they can now afford to escrow.

I hadn't heard of any organized boycott.
