UK 9 ball players

I just can't seem to enjoy watching them play. Can't really put a finger on it, maybe it's because they don't move the cueball around the table the same way as the US/Philipino players, even the Euro players that have been around are more interesting for me to watch. Ralph, Mika and such. Maybe it's the snooker stance and stroke, no clue really, just something makes me itch when I watch and I need to stop.

Anyone else feel the same way? I started watching some of the azbtv ones and could not sit through more than a few racks.
 
The Uk players are getting better all the time, But I do agree they all play alike and this is down to Snooker. Most of the UK players do rely on there shot making ability rather than there shape play.
when there are few high quality players competeing its very hard to learn a different style if you dont see it. My game has adapted a lot from the snooker style I started off with and this is down to being around the best players in the world on a regular basis. I have been in the US for nearly 8 years so I can tell you it does take time.
The UK players are becoming a force and I think in the next 5 years when there pattern play gets a little better they are going to be one of the major forces in the game.

Just thought that I would clarify that the videos of the GB9 Tour are not AZBTV owned but that of CueSport TV!!!

What is wrong with the snooker stance and stroke? It is very effective and we have produced some of the worlds greatest cueists through this method. Do you get bored of watching Tony Drago? He is a snooker player. In our opinion if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Raj Hundal, I agree, has a much more American style - but he too comes from a snooker background.
 
I think I see why I don't like the UK style of play, almost no side spin on the ball. Just saw the first few racks of CueSport stream, only follow and draw were used as far as I could see. Maybe a 1/2 tip of spin. I guess side is not used much in snooker.

I like to see the high action shots done, like what Corey can put on. UK play is very straight forward, while that works for making balls, if the angle is a bit off, they have a much harder time to get into position for the next shot as they just use top/bottom and speed control for placing the cue ball. JMHO but that is what I have observed.

In the UK, the non-Simonis cloth found in most PHs plays quite a bit slower than 860, you can't go 5 rails as easily.... :)

Anyways, current WPC champion and current European No 1 and No 2 are from the UK... If it works don't change it :)
 
Side is used in snooker but to a lesser extent.

Accuracy is the key to snooker and any element of side can cause issues with pocketing in such tight pockets. In the US disciplines cheat the pocket and throw shots are things that are both played and due to the nature of the pockets can be got away with
