universal shaft ferrule mushrooming?

Do you really mean the ferrule, or the tip? I picked one up with my winnings in Vegas and would be pretty bummed if the ferrule mushrooms. Do you break with it?

my friends is mushrooming BAD. He got it in vegas too...only a few weeks ago. It's definitely the ferrule, not the tip. Yeah he breaks with it...and pretty hard too. But still...don't think it should mushroom after such a short period of time.
