Hi all, I set up my new Gold Crown IV over the weekend, and the install went very well. When it was delivered I got a copy of the Brunswick install directions that were brief, yet right on the money. The system they use with the turn table leg levelers, and the slate leveling system made it real easy to get the table damn close to perfect. I had 1 slight roll just after set-up, but I figured I'd give it a day or two to settle, and the next day it was gone!. The Diamond Pro light is up also, and man they made a great product there!. The whole job took me and the wife about 10 hours. Here's my question for you all, the table is in a heated basement (well about 64 deg) and I'm finding that the rails play just right, but the cloth/bed (860 Simonis) seems real slow?. Also the cueball (Centenial blue circle) seems sluggish/no draw?. My first thought was "too cold" in the room. What do you all think. Thanx...Gerry.

p.s. I brushed and vacuumed 3 times and still real slow?...

Lookin at Fast Larry's site, he says to use a Super Pro Aramith cue ball, rather than the one that comes with the Centennial balls

If there's a lot of humidity in your basement, your table will play slow.

We have Simonis 760 on ours. It was fine and quick after installation, but a few weeks later, it became slow like a shitty cheap barbox cloth.

I would try getting one of those commercial fans at Home Depot.
Get the air sucked out of that basement and see what happens.
Unless you can put a heater under the slates or a dehumidier.

I have to admit that I like the red circle more because I'm used to it (it's the only ball they use in the pool rooms around here). The blue circle that comes with the centennial balls is fine - it just plays a little different than the red circle. I don't think that one plays "better" than the other, just different. F.L. is into trick shots, and the Aramith ball is a little easier to move around, so it makes sense that he'd prefer that ball.

I use two small 30 pint dehumidifiers to control humidity in my basement pool room. This has been a really wet humid summer and fall here, but even set on 2 or 3 on a scale of 10, they keep RH at about 50%. If my basement wasn't sectioned off, I would use one big one. I just started a thread on humidity looking for info on whether I should lower it even more.

Just an update, installed a small portable heater in the pool room and that seemed to help. Also built a "home made" ball cleaner using a small bucket, 5" buffing wheel and 2 - 5" buffing pads. That seemed to make the biggest difference. Once the balls were clean and polished everything seemed to be just right. Next is the floor covering. Kinda leaning towards cork for comfort and noise reduction...Later...Gerry.
