Appleton took second -- he apparently could have used some coaching in the late stages of the finals -- but not from the guy behind him in the stands, who also looks perplexed, lol

My preferred way to browse through the photos the first time is to click on the "Slideshow" button at the top right corner of the gallery -- it opens to a full screen slide show with excellent resolution.
 
Very good job. I like how your photos are "in action" photos rather than posing photos...!!!

Thanks -- that's exactly what I try to do!

@Champ2107, I thought Darren played great. He ran out just about every time he got a shot, no matter where the balls were. Only problem is, Shane did too, lol.

i read this from a guy that played him, personally i think you must know the game extremely well to come second at the us open?

"But one thing I do see is that Mr. Appleton is not completely comfortable with the game of one pocket. On several occasions he has the opportunity to do some real offensive damage by moving balls to his side and either hiding the cue ball or moving it up table -- shots almost any more experienced one pocket player would have taken -- and he passes to do something else, thereby giving me a gleamer of hope that not all is lost.

Of course, he runs balls like a mad man, occasionally drilling one from the far rail. The third game, early on, he makes one, plays safe, but leaves me a straight back that I have to twist in and slip by a ball near the far rail. I hit the shot perfectly, the one ball narrowly escaping contact with the blocker, and knocking in a two ball near my hole. I have gracefully swung the cue ball to the other side of the table and I run six. I’m feeling pretty good. Now I’m figuring: OK, I think I know Mr. Appleton is not really comfortable with one pocket -- *I’m shoving them all into the vault.* "

Yeah, you are quoting Lou F. -- I read that too, and I watched that match when it happened, or some of it. Took some photos of both players during it, too. Lou played well himself, but in the end was over-matched... I'm not sure what your point is -- I think we both agree Appleton is a great player. No offense to Shane, but I was hoping Appleton would win because I think that would be great for One Pocket! Does Darren have more to learn about 1P? I hope so, because I want to see that upside for sure!!
