It’s BCAPL 9-Ball Championships time again!

The 2006 BCA National 9-Ball Championships are just around the corner. We have just concluded the 30th BCA National 8-Ball Championships in Las Vegas hosting 7,118 sanctioned players a nd are in full swing taking entries for the 2006 BCA National 9-Ball Championships.

Louisville, KY is the new host city for BCA National 9-Ball Championships and the US Open One Pocket Tournament scheduled August 29-September 4, 2006 at the Executive West Hotel; home of the famed “DerbyCity Classic”.

This year's 9-Ball Championships includes Singles, 4-player Teams and Scotch Doubles events for our BCA Pool League players. We will also once again host the US Open One Pocket Tournament and Banks Tournament as well as 10-Ball events open to anyone, pros and amateurs alike.

9-ballpoker.com has become an additional sponsor of the BCA National 9-Ball Championships by adding $10,000 to the prize fund. Total Added Money for all events will range from a guaranteed $25,000 to potentially $32,000 based on full field participation in the One Pocket and Banks tournaments . A portion of all money invested by players on 9ballpoker.com is returned as added money to pool tournaments such as the BCA National 9-Ball Championships.

New for the 2006 9-Ball Championships

Men’s Teams must consist of four (4) players, two of which must meet original player requirements. Women’s Teams must consist of four (4) players and are not required to meet the original player requirement. Women’s Teams are encouraged and allowed to form teams from within their League Operator system.

Eligibility Requirements

Relaxed eligibility requirements will be in effect for the 2006 BCA National 9-Ball Championships. If you were qualified to play in or played in the 2006 BCA National 8-Ball Championships, you are eligible to play in the BCA National 9-Ball Championships. If you are a NEW League Player who began play in a sanctioned BCA Pool League after June1, 2006, you must be a sanctioned member and have completed three (3) weeks of play in your l eague by August 11, 2006 in order to qualify for the 9-Ball Championships.

Since reinstating the 9-Ball Championships and the US Open One Pocket events in 2004, both events have enjoyed a steady growth. We feel moving the events to a more centrally located host city will further enhance the long-term growth of the BCA Pool League and the 9-Ball Championships.. We will begin taking entries June 12, 2006, so download the forms and get you teams and singles event participants entered; fields are limited.

Our host site for the 2006 BCA National 9-Ball Championships, The Executive West Hotel, is located just minutes from the airport and consid ered a great venue for tournament play. We look forward to seeing you in historic Louisville, KY.

When the majority of the best one pocket players will be in the 2nd IPT Event in Reno on the same dates, I'm pretty sure which event most would choose to compete in. Moving this event to Louisville makes sense that's a part of why DCC is popular, the IPT DID RESCHEDULE the Oct. event in England soas to not conflict with the World Championship in Manila.

The disappointment of realizing the dates are the same will cause different emotions from players and fans, I would love to play and try to win another one.With what's a stake with the IPT which choice would anyone make? Hopefully this will be addressed in the future, man people were happy to have a U.S.Open again, look at the interest in the 14:1 in N.Y. I have to delete a longggggggg post about World 1-pocket Championship. sad

Leil, I spoke with Mark Griffin's staff last week and they addressed that. They have the US Open One Pocket scheduled to be held the first few days so that it wraps up a couple of days before the IPT event. The Bank tournament planned for the same week will conflict with the IPT, because it will falls in the latter end of the now-located-in-Louisville event. The One Pocket should be clear, though. I dodn't see where they have the exact dates posted yet, but on the phone they explained the early One Pocket start and finish.

I think it was a smart move, relocating the U.S. Open 1P to a more centralized area. For now the 1P Open is eclipsed by the DCC; but hopefully in the future it'll draw more players. They limit it to 64 now, probably due to the fact that since the 9-ball is a bar box event, they'll have a limited number of 9' tables.

Nevertheless I'm planning to attend the U.S 1P rather than the DCC so as to avoid its crowds. The fewer top players in attendance, the better it'll be for me...
