Gate City Billiards is holding another benefit tournament, this time for the American Cancer Society. Todd Nelson, a local pool player lost his mother to cancer recently. I decided to combine Todd's love of pool and love for his mother by holding a tournament benefiting cancer research.

Gate City Billiards was proud to be the host location. The tournament is August 29th at 2:00pm, registration will begin at 12:00. The entry fee for the tournament will be $50 with $20 of each entry going to The American Cancer Society. It will be double elimination with a race to 7 on the winners and a race to 5 on the losers side. The field will be limited to the first 32 players. There is an exciting twist to this tournament. First place will win a spot in this year's US Open 9-Ball Tournament in October. This is being paid for through generous donations from:

-Barry Behrman (Founder of the US Open)
-Don Liebes and Jana Waganseller (Owners of Gate City Billiards Club)
-Bar 40 Night Club in Greensboro
-Dobros Pizza and Grill
-James Brady (VIP Customer at Gate City Billiards)
-John Craig (Pool player and friend of Todd Nelson)

There will also be extra drink specials, contests, prizes, raffles and auctions during this event to benefit the cause. Due to the US Open prize, we are expecting some of the area's best pool players. Even if you decide not to enter the tournament, come by to watch some very good pool to support a very good cause!
