I am in Vancouver for few days and might have time to go check local pool hall. I am right downtown- let me know any good places around
thanks

I lived in Vancouver for about 10 years ago, and there were some decent halls around with lots of players, but the scene completely died around the time I left.

I used to frequent Commodore Lanes & Billiards on Granville, but the players are all but gone and the tables are terrible. Not sure if it's still open, but Guys and Dolls on Main St. & Broadway was a okay place with full-sized snooker tables and pool tables. Lots of shady characters about and you really have to keep an eyes on your cues at all times. But they did run weekly tournaments and pretty much all the best players in the Vancouver area would show.

if it was 1972 I would suggest Seymour Billiards, you could get a money game in minutes with some of the best players in the country or even buy a reasonably priced Rolex however since it's not 1972 your pretty much sol.
Or you could take your chances at Guys N Dolls on Main at Broadway or jump on the Skytrain to Richmond (15 min) and try Top147 on 3 road just south of Cambie.
Either way don't get too excited :p
Come to think of it I have no clue what people do anymore in this town for entertainment in the evening.

So far, this is the best pool hall I've played at in terms of facilities. They have 9ft Brunswick tables, bar tables, & 2 snooker tables (I forgot the brand). Their cloth is close to Simonis and plays fast. They also use Aramith premium & have Brunswick Centennials as well, though they usually lend the latter to the regulars I guess (I bring my own Aramith Tournament balls to get the most out of the table's playability).
