it seems that a very rich man named kevin has messed up pool. he has thrown millions of his own dollars into pool and wants to put pool on primtime tv making it popular, so everyone benifits from it. we must stop him, because this would be terrible!!! i for one, think pool was headed in the right direction without him. everything was going so well. the exposure pool had was tremendous, and now he wants to ruin everything by putting it on a television station that humans actually watch!! this is awfull i'm sure you all will agree with me. we must go back to the previous way pool was going. i loved it! the winner get's $13,000, 4th. place gets $300 and the person running the tournament gets $150,000 and a lifetime of cigars.

It sure would be nicer with a guy like Richard Branson or Trump instead of a guy like this with a lifetime history of wacky failed ideas even landing himself in jail for a time. Your entire tour is funded by the three words, "In my opinion" that is the basis of his book and allows him to sell his lies, and please, it is full of lies lets not even go into it. Take that away and he would be back selling door to door. Don't be fooled by the money he has made from the book, he is better at failing then succeeding and he may dump money into this pool thing but that does not guarantee any kind of success, not with him at the head. This is a lot harder then sitting there and waiting for suckers to send you their money. So far it seems like it is a little screw up regardless what he says. The tournaments are pretty far off though so all we can do now is just discuss it based on speculation till there is actually anything to discuss and critique. Take my advice though and don't quit your day job.

And less than mediocre players didn't get to pretend to be pros on the internet.

Very nice Bernie.

And MacGuy if the book is full of lies they are not KT's lies because all he does he refer people to what other people claim can cure them. He refers people to medical doctors and medical practitioners. And it is up to the individual person to evaluate the advice they receive from these professionals.

And he sure is not the first one to do that. But he was successful in being able to make money off of it. All of the information in the book most likely can be reached right on Google. But people like instant gratification so KT is willing to give it to them - for a price.

And what is wrong with giving a terminally ill person some hope? It is better than telling them to hurry up and die like a lot of family members tell them.

The home page of AZB is show casing a pay for view pool show and they mention IPT players are involved. And Diamond tables. Is this something that the IPT is involved in? And they did it without asking anyone's advice on how to do it? How dare they.

LOL

He can't even back up his so called sources when challenged. His favorite study he likes to point to never even happened. I don't care at all about him attacking the medical industry but he doesn't actually sell the book based on that, he claims to have cures. If you watch his infomercials he has a new act now. He claims to be a medical industry insider whistle blower. The only medical insider background he has is selling his own fake cures in the past but he has never let the truth stand in his way of a good pitch, why start now. With the whistle blowing laws he may feel this kicks in some additional legal protection for him I guess, plus it sounds good. He also has a law suit he has filed and likes to brag about, like he is going to show them they can't push him around, he will sue them for the lies they are spreading about him. Except after filing the suit he then tried to get the hearing date postponed to like 2008. Doesn't sound like he is in any hurry to clear his name. He just wants to be able to say he is suing but doesn't want to actually have to back it up. It will be dropped before he ever has to see the inside of a court room but it gives him a talking point for a while to BS his followers. I always thought pool players were a little bit of a cut above when it came to being conned but I don't know about some of the people here they are sounding like a bunch of suckers. I am just talking about the book and their silly defence of him and his con game.

3 sided coin

There seems to be 3 sides to this discussion.

Side 1:
KT is ok by them because he's made millions...billions or whatever the figure is and seeing as we love self made guys he is all right by us. I don't care about his past everyone can change. The past tour operators/promoters did nothing for us and thus we will embrace anyone who is will to drop cash on us. The current batch of professional bodies don't represent my needs because I can't make a living playing a game I love it must be broken.

Side 2:
KT is a crook and a shameless self promoter. Nothing can overcome that. He has gone to jail and his infomercials are bordering on voodoo medicine with wild claims. He plays fast and loose with the truth and is using pool as a vehicle to promote his book or pump his self/public image. Rockefeller broke hundreds of men and laws and then became a philanthropist in his latter life to re-invent himself.

Side 3:
Those who can should grab some money while it's around because this can't last. Unfortunately some established tours and promoters will probably suffer in the meantime.

You have to be kidding, macguy. Why do you think hustlers can still make a living off pool? Because, with the possible exception of poker, there are more suckers playing pool than any other game known to mankind. We pool players will believe anything if we think there is a dollar in it for us. All KT, or anyone else, has to do is open up his technicolor dreamcoat and we all line up to drink the Kool-Aid.

praise KT

i agree and would like to add (previously posted by me on "ok lets see" thread):

i swear, reading the posts on az it seems like there are many people that would rather have no ipt at all, and wish that KT wouldn't have put up all this money. all i hear are complaints about KT and hardly any praise. i actually don't blame him for some of the statements he has made, i mean if i was trying to bring a sport out of the gutter and put up my own money to do it, i would expect people to be appreciative, and not complain about every little thing.

i believe people need to realize that if somebody is putting up their own money, they are going to do things their own way. of course, things may not go exactly the way you would like, but the alternative is no ipt at all, and thus pool would go back to the same dismal state it has always been in. the argument about the ipt failing and not even having the nice tournaments (eg us open) we are now accustomed to is flawed as well becasue the ipt deserves a chance to work.... even if it is at the cost of all these tournaments, it is well worth it if you think about it (risk vs reward is way, way worth it). what exactly do people think we are going to lose that we can't get back if the ipt doesn't work? the current state of crappy, low paying events wouldn't be able to be resurrected and/or replaced?? please.

Oh MacGuy I agree with everything you say. And it looks like you too bought the book from your knowledge of it.

He found a gimmick and he parlayed it into millions.

But did you also go to his website and sign up for his newsletter? He makes even more money there. Ha Ha.

But pool is full of people trying to get rich selling gimmicks. How to aim. How to stroke. How to clean. How to everything. And they are all hoping that their gimmick will catch on so that they can sell millions of them. Are they all bad people. Or only bad if their gimmick catches on and they become millionaires.

I did, I found it at a yard sale for a few dollars. It's not the worst book like that I have ever read and most people would just read it and throw it away, it's only $29.00 or so no big deal. I don't see too many people actually taking the advice what real advice there is. His only real problems are not the book but credit card fraud, over charging peoples credit cards and if that hits the fan it could bring him down.

They are out to get him and he may be charged in every state the offenses have occurred and for every single offense. Ever see the movie "The Firm" with Tom Cruse? That's how they get people like him if they want, small charges that add up. That should be the biggest worry for people at the IPT.

Not if, but when, this stuff starts coming down he will be very distracted and the IPT will be the last thing on his mind and put on the back burner right away as he tries to get himself out of it all. Even if he slips through or manages to blame it on someone else the IPT will be essentially over. These are very real possibilities and at least at this point the IPT seems to be solely dependent on him, if he goes it goes. I am not being negative as as I am always accused, just looking at what there is to look at and it is easy to see it happening this way.
