Here's a video clip of Ronnie O'Sullivan running an incredible 147 points in Snooker(perfect game) in around 5 minutes. This folks is deadstroke at it's finest.

Go to Dr. Dave's sight at this link:

Down load a Real Media player at that sight and (Thouroughly) enjoy. RJ

I have that match on tape...unreal.
I also have a tape of Ronnie running the second
fastest 147 ever at about 6 minutes. Believe it or
not the 6 min 147 is even smoother than the other.
He must be from another planet.

rj a have a few other 147s on my comp if you want (in addition to that one of course). to name a few...
thorburn's crucible 147 (first ever in world championship)
jimmy white's crucible 147
an osullivan 147 in the 2003 WSC

There is a movie of Steve Davis running 147 on a Virtual Snooker game I have. He SIDE BANKS A RED in the middle of his run out ! You very very rarely see a bank shot in top level snooker. And of course at a lower level of snooker you may see someone bank, but they rarely make the darn thing !

I'll bet it took Cliff 'The Grinder' Thorburn a bit more than 5 minutes to run his 147, more likely it took the afternoon session :)

Didn't Thorburn's run start with a lucky red ? :D

yes to both. he took something like 16 minutes, and took a little break with only a few balls to go - but that was probably a very smart move on his part. the first red was ludicrously lucky. he rattled a red out of one corner to have it run along the short rail, collide with a second red which went into the opposite corner.

Interesting to note that despite O'Sullivan's incredible 147 in 1997 he lost his next match to (relatively) low-ranked Darren Morgan. In 2003 he made a 147 in the first round in 6 minutes and lost the match to Marco Fu.

His coach and mentor Del Hill said "Once that first red goes in he's always looking to make a maximum - that's his mentality It keeps him interested. He's not looking to make the frame safe, he's looking to make the maximum. It gets his juices flowing."

One has to wonder how much the flip-side of this affects him, and also other top players. If you have no chance to achive a personal goal (A maximum break in Snooker, or mutliple racks in 9 Ball for example) does your concentration lapse when you still need to make simple solid shots to win uninteresting frames?
