Viking Cues issue..... What would you do?

I had since the beginning of this year purchased 2 Viking Cues...

The first was from Ozone Billiards, came in perfectly fine.

The 2nd was from a dealer who had Viking direct ship me the cue. Viking shipped the cue postal service, packaged extremely poorly, and the shaft on the cue was dinged.. I contacted Viking, I had to return the damaged cue, and they sent a replacement.... The replacement arrived ok, except the shaft has a noticeable seam that can be felt between the shaft and the ferrule... I called them and told them about it I was told it would not affect playability of the cue and it was due to them not turning the shaft down properly (sign of poor quality control if you ask me). So I kept the cue as is, and have played with it some, but not much...

Going forward 4 months..

The cue I bought from Ozone, after cleaning my cue with a cue wiz (twice!) has developed a seam between the ferrule and the shaft... This seems really astonishing that this is even possible since the cue wiz practically takes of NOTHING from the shaft....

My concern is what if I want to sell these cues at some point? This will likely hurt the value of them, and these flaws seem like mfg defects to me....

I would like to think that if I called Viking they would replace the shafts, but who knows.... They have some use

Would you even bother contacting them?

Just to try and understand the situation, Can you post some pictures? I am imagining a gap between the shaft wood and the ferrule where you could see light between them. Is this a Viking or one of the Valhalla by viking cues?

The seam is not visible, you can feel it when you run the shaft through your fingers.. I have never had this happen before and I had owned a Viking cue and others in the past that never had this happen.. Both cues are Viking USA cues..V112 and V117-NT are the.models

I just have a feeling their quality has dropped over the years.. They mailed a cue directly to me in horrible shape and they didnt even bother to make sure the replacement ws flawless... The situation with my cue developing the seam after cleaning is really troubling.

Sounds like either the wood around the ferrule has swelled or shrunk. This is usually caused by a change in humidity.

If a cue is goes to a more humid environment, the wood's moisture content increases and swells slightly. If a cue is goes to a dryer climate, the wood's moisture content decreases and shrinks slightly.

This can happen to about any cue, and it's sort of out of maker's control.

Anyway, wood can be funny like that. You could send the shaft back to Viking, and in a day or two it might be as smooth as when it was first made ...without a thing being done to it.

Do you live in an especially dry or humid place?

We get humid weeks here in CT but the V117 i bought came from the factory with that seam and the other one developed it after i cleaned it with a cue wiz a couple times..
