Viking Vikore shaft

Thinking about grabbing a Viking sneaky to break with. Is a Vikore shaft going to hold up as a break shaft or am I better off with a regular vpro? I figure 13MM with an elky on there. So I can play with it occasionally too. Was using a Joss sneaky as my breaker/part-time player but bent the joint pin twice and threw it out.

No I won’t buy a CF shaft for it. And no I don’t want a phenolic tip or full time breaker. Always preferred to break with a 1 piece Duffy. Wood or bust!

You bent the pin by leaning on it. Just breaking won't bend a joint pin. I wouldn't use any ld shaft(or a Elkmaster tip) for a breaker.

You don't need a cf shaft to break with. I have a j&j dedicated break cue. Less than a hundred bucks, and it breaks just fine. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck.

I don’t lean on it. It’s my break. In slow motion my cue flexes a lot. Like a foot! Less lean more upward force. Maybe it is a lean. Guess I don’t know. I like to tease the cloth. If it sounds like a jet leaving the runway my break is on. One of my buddies recorded and was like “wtf!?”. And I have somehow never ripped the cloth. You can watch my short ghost race posted under ghost matches and see the flex on my first break. It’s a lot. I used a different break after that, but the first one is my normal break.

. I think the seller of the Joss just threw on any shaft and sent it to me. It didn’t seem matched very well. The joint never lined up perfect and I could get an extra turn with the phenolic joint. That made it really hard to unscrew. Never had a pin bend with any other cue. That one-twice. It played good but not worth another $100 to fix a 2nd time. I did split the wood at the joint on a 2 piece Dufferin sneaky once. Never had a pin bend until that Joss though.

Sounds like the solid vpro would be the best option, but I was really hoping to try out a Vikore. That wouldve kill 2 birds with one stone. I like to travel light sometimes and just bring 1 cue and 1 shaft to break and play with. So I’d prefer it to be a good shooter when needed. Sometimes I carry two cases- 2 players and a breaker. Matters what mood I’m in on the day.
