We have designed a new tip profile featuring a slightly concave center on the top and a nickle shape curvature on the side of the tip.

Please let me know your feedback.

Thank you.

looks good now but what happens if and when the tip mushrooms?
I doubt it's going to. Phenolic tips dont mushroom, and Richards tip material is harder then phenolic material.

No, the X tip will not mushroom.

The contour will stay the same unless the tip is being sanded down.

Thank you.

a few years back, I gouged a section out of the center of a tip on my personal cue,,,thought I'd tough out the night an replace it the next day,,,I was surprised at how well it shot with the concave hole in the center of the tip,,,to make a long story short, I have cut my personal tips in a similar fashion since then...

disclaimer (joke),,,don't do this at home folks, I'm an expert at screwing up and accept no responsibility for my, your, or anybody else's screw-ups.....

richard, what happens when the edge of that concave center wears down? as we all know friction will wear down anything eventually. how deep is the center pit? here's an idea for you, make a tip shaper with a concave center that can be used on all tips.

The concave used to be more "concave" on my prototype, but after speaking with Bob Jewett and some others, I have changed it a bit. It is now very close to the curvature of the cue ball.

I also shape my IPT leather tip shaft this way, and the leather tip I use is so hard that the concave actually stay in shape. The leather tip on Charlie Bryant's IPT shaft still has not mushroomed since Reno.:)
