watching a one pocket match

How do people like to watch a one pocket match for money? X ahead games or so many out of so many?I find it hard to watch one pocket for long periods. I can play it but just watching it on a stream to me is very boring.. I prefer short races: i.e race to 5 or something. The longer races to 8 head or something to me is very boring. thoughts? thanks

I agree.., but,

I don't ever find the game boring between two good players, but I would rather watch a race because someone wins and it doesn't take two or three days.

I almost always bet by the game.

I agree with both of you..An 'ahead' session, between two evenly matched player's, can be VERY boring, even if
you are a novice, just trying to learn the game......The recent 8 ahead match between Danny and Josh, put me to sleep 3 different times. :boring2:... And I had a decent wager on it !

I used to enjoy short 'ahead' match-ups, (like maybe 4 ahead) but if it started to become a see-saw, at any point it became even, I would always suggest a reasonable length 'race' !...Usually, even a long race (like to 8 or so) will usually reach a decision long before an ahead set, of almost ANY length !....(unless of course, one of the player's goes into "dog mode",
when they get behind a few games)

I'd rather see a high quality stream for one pocket. Actually, I'd prefer a high quality stream for all of pool, but I honestly believe with a low quality stream, it can be difficult to see some shots (due to pixelation).

A race to 8 seems to keep people's attention, especially if there's a little bad blood between the contestants.

Granted, good job !...But unless you are dealing with serious time constraints, (as is often the case) a race to 3 is really too short !..Against two evenly matched player's, the one who wins the lag, (or coin toss) becomes a clear cut favorite.

I wholeheartedly agree, that a race to 3 is too short, but if we are talking about a one pocket match to watch, time constraints are always an issue.

I'm guilty of sitting down and watching a 6+ hour long one pocket bore-fest with a nice bottle of bourbon or a couple bombers of bourbon stout, but it's not for everyone... The pool match that is

A race to 3 is SUPER short, especially if the players are aggressive.

I could watch the top 50-100 players playing one pocket all day long. Now, if you get 2 defensive players, playing the wedge, it can get a little boring sometimes.

My answer is slightly off topic, but for me the type of set doesn't matter but the commentary sure does. If the commentator is knowledgeable, stays focused on the game, discusses the shot options and isn't afraid to be critical I am riveted. I'll watch that until it's over.

If there is no commentary, or the commentator responds to the chat or tells stories about himself I'm out.
