Would like some info…….

Last year in the Northwest there was this guy (pool player) hanging around for about 3 months, over the summer. He was an unknown he had never been in the northwest playing pool before. He played very well almost pro speed for a guy who played little. It was apparent that he played along time ago very well. He may have been holding back he beat some of the best players. He liked to bet at least $30 or more a game 9ball. Didn’t like to play sets. Travels around to different flea marts selling record albums and video tapes.. He primarily sold stuff at flea mart and played he never practiced. He needed a little money so he did play some local tournaments & got pumped up. Played on his own money. I did run into him at a flea mart so he was not lying to anyone. He was primarily a flea mart hawker pool was 2nd when he needed to.

This guy lived in a yellow school bus with Washington license plates. The inside was loaded with tons of albums and tapes. He probably bought the bus from someone in Washington State. Age about 50, He was about 5'11" ,weight about 150lbs skinny had semi wavy hair wore small pony tail and a beard. wore glasses, loved to talk about politics called himself Gary. A country bumpkin type and very confident at pool and knows the used record and tape market and other collectibles. Said he had been traveling for years been in a lot of states but lately (8 to12 months ago) in California, Oregon maybe Washington. He possible lived in Ohio but had a southern accent. He wore sandals with white socks, well worn pants….

We started to talk about this guy again and we wanted to find out who he was. We had sent out the jungle drums at the time No one knew who he was…. does anyone have a clue from this description we wanted to know now..... thanks….

It was Cowboy

From your post it sounds like you know him very well.

I know who you are talking about but I thought the bus was
not exactly yellow. Maybe I am remebering different or maybe its
a different poolplaying hippie type that travels in a bus to flea markets
and swap meets while playing a little pool.
Nice guy.
I have not seen him out west yet but ran into him quite a bit back
around the south a few years back.

Nice to see he is still riding around.
He really does go down and set up and sell at flea markets.
He hired a guy I knew to help him with one.

Did he say who he was??? it is obvious that at some time in his life he played at a high , very high level. I have asked a few old timers they are not sure....
still want to know

From what I have been told he did not play at a high high level but rather
about the same or maybe a little better.
I did however watch him get a little better each time he matched up over a weeks time.
Hes pretty good at playing good enough to win.

I watched him play a few times and he played hard enough to just win as the competion got harder he keep just narrowly winning. He executed some real difficult shots that even the above average player doesn't try to play when you are playing for $30 a game... After a seeing him couple of months(3) and about ten apperances to the pool room he told me that he beat Keith McCready when keith came through his town where ever that might be, he was very tight lipped about himself. who is he??

He possible lived in Ohio but had a southern accent. He wore sandals with white socks, well worn pants….

Scarecrow?

If I am not mistaken, there was another post on this guys several months ago. They called him Scarecrow. This may, or may not be, the same guy. Don't want to spread bad info, but maybe this will jar someone's memory. Have you checked with America's Most Wanted?
