What exactly is the purpose of a weight bolt? I have a 21oz falcon cue that well i got curious to see what will happen if i remove the bolt. The weight didn't change, the balance didn't change..so what is the purpose of it. I held the bolt in my hand and it was light was a tissue paper..ok...well maybe i was exagerating abit but it sure felt light though.

It it's aluminum, it's very light.
It probably has the thread hole for the screw that holds the bumper.
Some lazy cuemakers actually use the weight bolt to hold down the butt plate.
That is really lazy. Butt plates should be threaded on not held down by the weight bolt.

By 'butt plate' do you mean the butt sleeve? As in all of the wood below the wrap? If so that is BEYOND shoddy!

Hi cardinal,
My bolts are nylon, and very light. I use the 5/16 nylon machine screw to hold tight and then drill and tap with a 8/23 Allen head socket screw to hold the bumper. In my opinion, a good cuemaker will weight and balance his cues with the woods being used, not bolts.......

lol sorry umm you lost me there i don't know much about cues. What exactly is a butt plate. I guesse it's basically the butt part after the wrap? THere's the forearm the wrap and the butt plate right?

Jules, it is there to add weight and or hold the screw that holds the rubber bumper.
k...well then my weight bolt is useless then.......it basically has no weight and does not hold the bumper...the bumper isn't even screwed on.....i took it out with a few turns here and there(it's not threaded jsut snugged in there).
I'll try to post pics later

I removed the weight bolt from my Falcon JB about 2 years ago and it's still working without any problems. The weight bolt felt quite light, but the scale showed 14 grams = 0,5 oz. But, this 0,5 ounce reduction made a huge difference in my break and I'm never putting the weight bolt back again.

I'm glad Falcon doesn't put the weight bolt in there just to keep the butt sleeve on. Wouldn't want my Falcon butt sleeve all over the room after my thunderous break :)
