I have a cue with a stripped weight bolt. What is the best way to repair this?
Thanx, Ron

Fill it and tap it.

Without knowing any more details, I suggest you may want to fill the striped hole with good epoxy, then after it has fully set-up, center drill, drill and retap it.

I would bore it out around 5/8" dia. then glue a plug in, either maple or phenolic rod, when dried for a couple days, drill and tap your original size. Alittle more work, but there won't be any chance of the click or rattle of a loose weight bolt. :)

Ron,

I would suggest not to use epoxy on the stripped bolt. I would bore it out and replace it with a wood dowel, epoxy it in place, and then tap it for the weight bolt. Call me at the shop if you want to talk more about it for dimensions. Jim

Slow set

I use slow set epoxy. Unless you are in a big hurry. Eitherway, I've had no problems with this type of repair, as long as you take your time when you drill and tap.
