weight training

I saw you play for the first time last night when ESPN showed that nice Irish lady cheesing in two balls in a row against you, including that freak nine ball to end the set. Your reaction to it showed you have a lot of class.

My question is, how do you maintain a loose stroke after lifting weights? Do you stop lifting the days before a tourney or do you not have a problem tightening up? I assume you're not going crazy with heavy weights and are doing high repitition sets, but I was wondering if you only do lower body workouts on the days prior to a tourney to keep your arms loose.

I'll leave the butt references and other sexual innuendo stuff to lukeinva and some of the other creepy fellows on the board and just tell you looked good and made a nice impression with your composure and sportsmanship.

Hi Bud,

Thanks for sweating my match last night! It's amazing how many crazy things can happen in a game of 9 ball.

As far as weight training for a pool player, it's important to only use enough weight to keep the muscles strong, and not make them bigger. Stretching exercises are helpful in keeping the looseness that you need to have for pool, especially if you are lifting weights. On the days leading up to tournaments I stop training my upper body and focus on lower body, abs and cardio (just as you suspected).

Hope this helps!

I SAW JENNIFER IN THE MATCH LIVE BEFORE I HAD MET HER. AS THE SHOW DEMONSTRATED LAST NIGHT, SHE ALWAYS MAINTAINS HER DEMEANOR AND CLASS AS I HAVE BEEN TO EVERY WPBA SINCE THEN. I INTRODUCED HER TO MY WIFE LAST WEEK IN VEGAS AND SHE INDICATED MY WIFE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND I RESPONDED WITH, "SO IS YOUR HUSBAND'S WIFE". I THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO WHIP ME AS HER FIRST THOUGHT FORGOT I WAS REFERRING TO HER. DON'T LET HER LOSS OF STRENGTH CLAIM FOOL YOU; I AM 6' 1" AND 350+LBS. AND SHE COULD WHIP ME. (MAYBE) I SWEAT ALL OF HER MATCHES AS I RESPECT HER SKILL AND ATITUDE. MY WIFE LIKED HER AS WELL.

Dababe, you're dabest. And I liked your wife a whole lot, too.

CoF, thanks for tuning in!

Jenn

No problem! I hope to sweat some more of your matches in the near future! :D

I too noticed your intense focus at the table and good sportsmanship. You're to be applauded. You set a good example for all of us.

Back in the day I was doing 135 for 10 reps. These days I'd be lucky to bench the bar!

I still want the 5-out in arm-wrestling! Don't listen to her fellas! She's talking about the bar at the poolroom!
