Congrats to Ismael "Morro" Paez for winning the latest Pechauer 9-ball tournament. He knocked me out of the tournament 9-5 to go on and win. I always feel much better when the person who knocks me out of the tourney goes on and wins. The final match was quite exciting to watch. Stan T. missed a tricky 5-9 combo for Morro to win. Stan was playing some excellent pool the whole way though. There was this one shot Stan pulled off early in the tournament that was very clever, and what ensued was hilarious. Stan had his opponent, this young asian kid on 2 fouls. This is what the layout of the balls looked like:
START(
%AC9L4%B\3V7%CK1O8%D\1P0%EE3L7%FQ0K1%GX9P9%HD4K2%ID6O2%PG5R0

)END

Now, before I go on, knowing that your opponent is on 2-fouls, what would you do here?

Stan did this:
START(
%AC9L4%B\3V7%CK1O8%D\1P0%EE3L7%FQ0K1%GX9P9%HD4K2%ID6O2%PG5R0
%WE5P7%XG4Q7%YD0N0%ZD2N7
)END

Resulting in this:

START(
%AC9L4%B\3V7%CK1O8%D\1P0%EE3L7%FQ0K1%GX9P9%HD4K2%ID1M9%PD6P0

)END

Which was an intentional foul, that completely blocked up the 1-ball, leaving the kid with NO way to make a legal hit on the one. Now this was the hilarious part- The kid studied the table for a few minutes, not knowing what to do, and called the tournament director. He asked her if he could place the cueball on TOP of the rail, to shoot at the one! Everyone who heard it burst into laughter. Needless to say, Stan won that game, and the match 9-3. It's cool because I learned something there. I saw the layout, and I never would have thought of doing that. Overall it was a great tournament, and I met Stan for the first time, and he is by far one of the nicest poolplayers I have ever met. Very polite, and he even complemented me on how good I play. Congrats to Stan for taking first place on the overall tour for points!

HELLO LAST TWO,
I tried to send you a pm but the response said you msg box was too full and I cannot send one until you clear space. So I will ask you hear being computer illiterate to some extent. How do you get to where you want us to go? I do not really know how to do that. I typed in the lines on the address bar but got back page cannot be displayed. Now that I have embarassed myself please teach me. tks

Yeah I saw Stan Tourangeau play at a tourney I played in at Jillians. One race against Kris Iverson he won the lag and broke and ran the first 5 racks. race to 7. Tough to combat that. I believe he finished 4th in that tourney with Dan Loiue, Rich Geiler, Randy C going 1-2-3. I finished in the money in 12th out of 64 players. Not bad but I only played one player who finished higher than 8th.

Sounds like you got a good draw. I played Stan one time back in about 1995. I was up 4-0 in a race to 7 and lost 7-4. After I came up dry on my last break I never got another clear shot at an object ball plus he was running multiple racks. He took total control of the match, I didn't have a chance. Stan ended up second in the Tourney but I can't remember who won. Either Rich Geiler or Dan Louie.

That's quite hilarious... not necessarily for the opponent who has to shoot at a ball tied up like that on 2 fouls. :D

I heard that someone made this kind of "jam" for a good player here in Finland, cannot remember who. Anyway, he was to two fouls and the one-ball was near the rail surrounded with 3 other balls. Well, he placed the cueball near the corner pocket, took out his jump cue and jumped the cueball on top of 1-ball in the middle of the cluster ! He executed the shot perfectly but was unfortunate because the cueball bounced from the 1-ball and scratched in the other corner pocket !! Hilarious attempt to escape from a hopeless situation...
