I have fat sausage fingers, and I noticed sometimes even when im trying to hold the cue tightly, I was sometimes getting either wiggle space or movement. which of coarse means either a miss or a rattler. so now im using a nice wide open bridge, and things are going better on my potting balls.

seems like I can get lower to the table also. im getting much lower using a open bridge compared to my closed bridge.

at 5/11 and 260 pounds, I would love to switch bodies with a little guy just for one night, so I could get my chin on the cue. ;););)

but only for one night. its easier to pick up chicks with a big muscular body.

I’ve found that a closed bridge is more accurate and
minimizes error.

It’s awkward in the beginning but the trick I was told is
to carry a pen or pencil around in a closed bridge style
as much as possible until your used to it.

When it becomes more familiar and you use it on the table
often you can get it as flat as an open bridge.

Your 5’11” 260? Unless you look like Ronnie Coleman in his prime
muscular might be a strong word.;)

Gl with the chicks but, don’t forget personality seems to go a long way.

I use both and don't consciously decide on either when playing.

Yep...over time you really don't think much about bridge selection. I becomes subconscious. Depends on the shot, I suppose. Never really counted, but if I had to guess, I'd say I use open more than closed.

You definitely got that Eddie Hall physique goin on.
Wanderlei has a bunch of plastic surgery.
He bought his prettiness:)

If your interested try the pen thing, it helped me.
I feel like the closed bridge allows me to be more
stable, especially on power shots. Like Patrick says
to each their own.

Maybe add a stretching routine with all that weight lifting
getting lower on the ball is nice. Many also make due
without. I notice some older guys ( late 60’s-80’s) still shoot
pretty sporty with a higher head position.
