What about diet.

I am the worst for eating foods that make you lethargic and mess up your ability to concentrate. Cheese burgers (the worlds perfect food: it has vegies, meat, dairy and grains all in one very flavorfull package), french fries, sloppy joes, hogie sandwiches, taco's, spagetti and lasagna are some of the things that I partake when I commence refueling my system.

So how much of this "you are what you eat" do you believe? Any dietary experts out there that could come up with some good brain food diets? Some good concentration food? What about stuff like gensing etc. that is supposed to help your ability to concentrate and focus?

TIA

I try to stay away from foods that make me sluggish, otherwise I'm thinking of how tired I am and it weighs on my body and mind. I like sushi, light sandwhiches, chicken salad, etc... and don't overeat either. Drinking water is always a good choice, also.

Johnny "V" - Please don't..........

Johnny "V" - Please don't use those vulgar 4 letter words (diet) on this wonderful site again.
I have a big match this afternoon so I just finished off a half pound of bacon, 6 fried eggs, hash browns and 4 pieces of buttered sour dough toast w/ jelly. Washed it down with 3 large glasses of vitamin D whole milk.
I'm pretty busy today in my business and don't know if I'll be able to catch a snack before the match, so this will have to hold me until dinner.
Wanna know what that's gonna be?

TY & GL

Ps - My biggest fear is that I'm gonna die, HEALTHY.

Well, undoubtedly there are foods that you should definately avoid and others that you might want to consider. Pasta is always a good choice and is the traditional dinner prior to the New York City Marathon. Turkey on the otherhand would not be so good which is loaded with steroids that will make you sleepy. Obviously, foods and drinks that have caffine will have an opposite effect though after a while, you'll begin to come down and feel sluggish. Occasionally, I get heartburn so I try to avoid foods that cause it.

food and stuff ....

I don't think food affects your shooting that much unless you eat junk food all the time. Maintain a proper diet, fix meals at home as well as grabbing a cheeseburger and fries now and then.

Drinking alcohol affects your shooting, some can handle it, but most can not.
It does not clarify your thinking ... it muddles it, and sooner or later it will
cause you to make a mistake shooting, and depending on what level you shoot
at, that one mistake might mean losing a whole set!

I take a multivitamin with 26 vitamins, minerals, etc., plus it has ginseng in
it, and I have noticed a difference in how 'clear' my mind seems when shooting, allowing to get in a 'zone' better, but your body goes through cycles, mentally, emotionally, and physically (just like biorithyms suggest), and sometimes even when you are feeling good psysically and emotionally, you just are not there mentally (maybe for normal matches, but lacking for the extra tough matches), or your emotions could be affecting your shooting, or some physical pains could throw you off.

To operate at the peak performance you can though, diet and good physcial
and mental shape are needed, just like in any other sport. Try playing
for days, day and night, like I have without being in shape, and see how tired
you get, and the fatigue that set in. I purposely avoid any real serious
matchups if my emotions might be out-of-whack for any reason because
I know they will cause me to make mistakes.

In otherwords, stay 'tuned up' to play, but pick when you play, and do not
play when you feel that something is not right with yourself.
