What Do You All Want Me To Do?

Word has come to me through the grapevine and a very reliable source that MY POSTS "rub some people the wrong way". (Well, no kidding...who didn't know that). (But it's also many of those "some people" that are rubbing me and many others the wrong way with THEIR posts. It's a double edged sword).

I could start naming names specifically, that would be so easy that I don't have to give it a second thought, but I don't think I need to because you know EXACTLY who they are...THEY know who they are...and everyone knows what the issues are also.

That's not to say that I don't just pop on someone out of the clear blue for a really goofball, off the wall post that's totally incorrect...or, to defend myself when someone decides to go on an attack and risks a gunfight in the middle of the street at high noon against me to gain a reputation of some kind.
Let's face it...for many, Drivermaker is the name you love to hate and any volatility, playground/poolroom verbal woofing that I go into hurts some sensitive feelings and they complain to the big boss immediately...but you either like it or you hate it. Forum flame wars will ALWAYS be there on any forum, and the rules of war are...there aren't many rules.

So the question is...should I ease up and be an automaton poster that answers every "What tip do you use"..."How does a Predator compare to other shafts"..."What do you use to clean your shaft"....and all of the other threads in a droll matter of fact response...OR...should Drivermaker just be Drivermaker and let the good times roll?

Answer it ANY WAY you like...friend, foe, or otherwise. We ALL have our own styles of answering, starting threads, or responding and it can be done for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's just to liven things up and create a stir, and other times it can just be a straight answer. Personally, I look at all angles and go off on what I think will do the trick at the time.

So...lay it out there any way you want. It could be the difference in the WAY I post...whether I go the way of Blackjack and even post at all (which WILL make some people VERRRRRY happy)...or whether I'M the one to get the next AXE on here and go bye-bye.

And most importantly...I'M DEAD SERIOUS ABOUT THIS ONE...do you feel that I give quality information on various aspects of the game and have I helped ANY of you out at one time or another?

So, lay it out there. This is more of an issue than you may realize.

in my HO...

I find your posts about Pool informative. You do 'cut to the quick'
quite a bit, but that is your prerogative. You seem to get carried
away with SM sometimes, like you are trying to teach her something
that she can only learn IF she wants to, and proabably ON her own.

I think everyone, in general, needs to remember that this is a billiards
forum, and NOT a 'one up' forum. A few stray comments are okay
sometimes, but not pages and pages of 'off topic'.

Everyone is entitled to be themselves though, and express their
opinions (hopefully after actually thinking about it first), and
remember that everyone's knowledge about Pool is not at the
same level, and what might seem dumb to many can just be
situational to a new player.

All posters should try to keep in mind to be constructive to
the forum ... and add to it instead of taking away from it ...

I read all of your posts, the "informative" and the "negative". I think I get the brunt end of your attacks more often than others, but I do want to go on the record and say that I haven't PMed you about this one way or another, so I honestly don't know who you are referring to. I do hope to run into you in ATL someday. I'm sure you'll call me the "c" word and I'll laugh and agree. :p :)

BTW, it's y'all not you all!

Yeh...I'm still trying to find those posts and threads you were talking about where you've NEVER been treated so poorly and the different way that they were said. Care to produce them or show where they are exactly?

Hey, I have a LOT of respect for DaveK and always enjoy going back and forth with him. We've PM'd or emailed privately a number of times over the years. Maybe he DID KNOW something we didn't know...but it still never came out one way or another. You were ALWAYS welcome to stay and share...

You get them...deservedly so and others have opined that also and you know it.

I stand corrected on the y'all...YOU'RE RIGHT!

Who doesn't rub someone the wrong way once in a while? You know IF you are out of line. I believe most of us know that. I don't find your posts to be over the line, at least not the ones I have read.

your posts are very informated for the most part. I like the fact that your not afraid to lay it all out and tell it like it is

Dear Drivemaker

Keep on doing what you are doing. Don't change a thing. I find your post informative and often funny. None of us are perfect, ya know! There will always be sensative people who are ready to go off anytime. You said a dirty word one time, and that will always stick in my mind. I often go to confession after I read your post. So please do tell, what kind of tip do you use? How do you like the new Predator Z shaft compared to the 314? What is the best way to clean your shaft? Do you always take your licker by the ears? Why do you think pool is in such a bad way and what would you do to fix it? Do you think we should drug test players, alcohol included? Who is the best cuemaker? Last but not least, how ya been ol'buddy.
Purdman

You be developing a complex or sumpthin?
You feel bad because you always make us feel bad?

I would love to rub SM up the wrong way, but sadly we've never met - shit did I just say that on a public forum! (Thats the danger posting on where when you've had a few drinks!) Oraly, I mean verbally (<-- cunning linguist! :) of course!

:D

I like the vast majority of your posts. Maybe you should avoid replying to Marissa and Loras posts? Don't know what the beef was between you and whatsisname, none of my business. I guess Mike will let you know if he thinks you're going to far.

Speaking of Lora....Lora you didn't answer my PM about whether you ever got your table assembled and how it came out?

Terry

DM, you're the man in my book.
I don't think the forums would be the same without your humor and directness to which I have been on the wrong end of way back ;) . That's what I like though. If I'm wrong then hit me with your best shot.

We PM and email and I think very highly of you and what you bring to the table. Although I don't fault Blackjack for the decision he made, it's still a shame not to have him here anymore and the same would be true if you left.

Hang in there buddy,
Koop

I don't think you should change a thing. You & I are a lot alike... Our sense of humor is very dry & sarcastic. The problem is that we're straight forward and at times people mistake jokes as being serious. Because of this, I'm a little bit more "PC" on here. I hate being "PC" & it's not in my nature. Unlike most, I have no problem saying whatever I feel face to face. I just don't like getting into it too much on here because there's more than just me & the person that annoys me. There have been times that I've envied you on here because you've said what I wanted to say, but wouldn't at the risk of not being "PC". Do I agree with everything you say? Of course not, but I do find you entertaining at times and informative at times. I can honestly say that if you were to leave the forum, I would be saddend.

;)

DM, we had some wording in another thread. You umm... expressing yourself as usual didn't hurt me a bit. I've already gotten to know you and your style and your posts are informative yes indeed.

Terry

I'm sorry, Terry.

I thought that I did reply. I don't want to hijack this post so I'll just say that the mechanics did a great job and I'm shootin' again!

I must say that I give DM his props for allowing us to fire-off on him. Takes some courage and I therefore see him a new light.

Regards,
Lora.
