This is a good post; it shows what was really going on. I agreed with many of those "distasteful comments", because they needed to be said. And most of those "distasteful comments" were coming from the person who probably got the thread pulled in the first place. People (including me) where being basically "insulted" by a vet cue maker, and for what reason? You tell me.

I aint pointing fingers or saying anyone here is to blame.
I just dont want to be associated in that type of thing and will delete any thread I start that takes that course.
You have the option of starting your own thread on the same subject.
I think both you and Blud are very knowdgeable people and you both have a lot to offer me and others here by sharingyour opinions and thinga you have experienced. After all isnt that what this place is all about?
I look forward to your posts and will read them all with an open mind.
But for now I am going to step back and just lurk for awhile.
I thought it was a pretty good thread until it degraded into a private rant. I was also accused of insulting someone, which was not true.
I would rather see Mike edit the bad posts rather than take the shotgun approach of just deleting the whole thread.
Anyway, this thread belongs in NPR, so maybe Mike will move it over there. This will be my last post in "Ask the Cuemaker"

I've "lurked" in rsb for quite some time, check on it every month or so, and i remember a lot of the crap going on, and sometimes you were involved lol, but not in a bad way. I meant no harm to you.
Joseph came on and tired to tell me how to think and say what i should do. After my responce to him, he then said things about my cues, and mentioned my son. He should not of involved my family or my products. This was uncalled for.
He's not a cuemaker as yet, but comes a cross as if he was. This is mis-leading and wrong.
When he gets his own shop, things will look differantly to him about building cues. his mind will change about what he's learned from whoever.Then he will be in a spot to talk about how to and such, and answer questions, because of years on, hands on experence.
Experence is by far, the best teacher.
That's all it amounts to.
I do my best to help guys like you and others.
Durning the formation of the American Cuemakers Association, [Which I was the founder], many people knocked me durining the formation process. So yes, I do know what is and is not a knock. I did not knock him. Just told the truth.
How, can pointing out that a guy is not a cuemaker, [when he admitts this in private], be a knock.
This part of the forum was just what it says, "ASK THE CUEMAKER"..
He is not. All information is and should be welcome here, however, one should say he's learning or taking lessons, not preceive to be someone he's not.. Don't you think? This way, no one would get mis-lead.

Well, if someone says, "I'm not a full fledged Cue Maker yet" doesn't mean that they said, "I'm not a cuemaker", that would be taking things out of context...
Yes, it does say that (ask the cuemaker), but an apprentince of somebody who handles repairs for almost an entire state, would know a lot about repairs, and building, seeing that he has seen a lot of different cues, inside and out, a person like that should know what works, and what doesn't.

Point jigs, veneer jigs, no way posting pictures about them. You got to take my word on these. They are first class and work perferctly.To easy for some to copy. I'm sure you understand? [Not speaking of you Jon]...
just refering to some others who care not to get it honestly. These jigs, help me provide for my family.

I understand about the jig pics, me, along with my pappy could make just about anything. I'm working on the point jig for my mill, simple indexer (5C), tail stock and aluminum bed. I'm making so many things right now (and got more in my head) that i'm over loaded lol, hard to find time to work on the 5-6 cues in progress lol... Having to rebuild my steady rest lol, just finished my new cut off saw (you can't sand anything that darn smooth), and there is more on the way lol...

Using a fence, and having clamps and rails to hold the veneers in place, and set the height and depth accordingly, and your off running. Got to be carefull about the veneers not being held down flat.I don't use that mill for veneers any longer.
I, now use a table saw that I, built.
[My new way and new jigs, holds them down flat, and assures you to have the same cut depth from one end to the other, with no run out].
It's got a fence guide, and a jig to hold the veneers tight, not only side ways, but down tight also. Just set your width and run them through, and then move over to the other saw I built and set the depth for the 90 degree cut, and run them through. Fold them in my veneer jig, for a perfect 90 degree fold, [with no glue lines], and glue in the over-lay, inlay. Wrap with wax paper, wrap with rubber tubing, tie off, and go to the next one. Easy as all get out. Can do all four in about 20 minutes or so.
