I'm not quite ready to buy a break cue yet, so I have a cue I use for breaking, what tip do you guys recommend? I was thinking a hard tip, not sure what brand though.

Thank you.

A few people on here including myself use the White Diamond. They are very hard, and hold chalk better than the regular phenolic. I find for me anyway, they aid in controlling whitey on the break.
They also make for a great jump tip.

Yea, the white diamond J/B tips works great.takes alittle getting used to and a smoth strick buts it great.junps like crazy .

Ahh, I see, so you need a hard tip to jump as well???

Where can you buy these tips?

Thanks for helping me guys

How do you keep a White Diamond on the ferrule.
I had to tennon the back of the White diamond into the ferrule to keep themm from poping off.
The jump shot seems to put a lot of side force on the tip.

my white diamond tip was put on by a local guy here and he just used whatever glue he uses. I have had it on my break cue and my jump cue for well over 2 years now and have not had a problem with it popping off or anything. You can buy them on eBay or on his website. I think it is piconecues.com. The same guy that makes them has the site and sells them on eBay. You will be happy with them. I suggest getting them off of eBay. It is a much better deal.

Thank you.

After significant persistence, I have eliminated scratching & miscues & have achieved satisfactory CB placement & my potting %age on the break is steadily increasing. I have established a chalking ritual which I can now execute with ease.

I am only saying this to encourage you to fully investigate the phenolic before abandoning it.

I have yet to give hard leather options a sufficient trial.

I break with a water buffalo tip and jump with a white diamond. With the white diamond tip on my break cue I jumped the cueball off the table too much. Leather tips are best IMO for control on the break.

All I used was locktite gel, and made sure to score the back of the tip lightly with an exacto knife in a cross-hatch pattern to give it a little texture for the glue to adhere to. No problem here with the tip popping off.
