What is the current standard length is there one

58 is still industry standard.
My custom standard (most requested) is closer to 60, but I sometimes have orders for cues shorter than 58.

The vast majority of what I'm building these days is 30" shafts and 29/30" butts. 58" does seem to remain the "standard" overall length for the vast majority of the production cue builders.

I have 2 30" shafts and with joint protectors there is still room in my instroke case. Watching pool on TV seems like several players always have a extension screwed on the butt all the time.

yes, but were are talking about a 60 inch cue not 59 A 30 inch butt still has the extra length of the pin and i'm thinking might not fit in most cases

They will fit most cases (eg, JB cases fit a 30” butt and shaft fine)

My instroke case from early 2000's is 31 and 3/4 inside and my old school soft sided case is 35 on the inside. With the biggest joint protectors I have, my 29"butts are 30 and ³/⁴ with a big rubber bumper at the longest some are 30" with bumper. I think in most applications you will have room. Since people are already looking for 60" cues and if some rare case theirs didn't fit I would think most would be ok since they already knew they were asking for a bigger cue to be built. My guess is with your 60" cues you will probably be making extensions to go with them as well, if you offer that option. What I watch on YouTube alot of players never seem to take their extension off thru the whole match.
Your long legged hot sales woman will be able to push the extra 2" no problem I would think.
Best of luck.....
