What pool books to get?

I've read and enjoyed Off the Rail, are there any other "action" oriented books out there that I should get?

I'm mostly interested in gambling stories or challenge matches between two legends, stuff like that.

I can't wait for Jay Helfert's book... I hope it happens.

Also, if I can't get them at a bookstore or through Amazon, info on how to get a copy would be very helpful. Thanks.

Hustler Days by R.A. Dyer
Road Player by Jerry Forsyth
Cornbread Red by Bob Henning
From Rags to Rifleman by W.W. Woody
Bet High, Kiss Low by Grady Mathews
McGoorty by Robert Byrne
The Bank Shot by Tom Fox

All of these have good road / gambling stories

The only one you'll have major problems finding will be From Rags to Rifleman which is currently running around $350 or so.

All of the others can be easily obtained.

Those are all pretty good books IMO. Another good one is "The Greenfelt Jungle" by Gerald Huber. "Rags to Rifleman" is the nuts IMO, I have never read another pool book that I enjoyed more.
Forgot another good one, "Billiards, Hustlers & Heroes, Legends & Lies......by John Grissim. There is another thread on this forum about this book.

Great job, guys, you covered most of the good ones. I would add:
The Bank Shot and Other Great Robberies by Minnesota Fats
The Pool Room by Sid Ragland
Do It For The Game by Robert Campbell
Billy Phelan's Greatest Game by William Kennedy
Byrne's Book of Great Pool Stories by Robert Byrne, and to some degree:
Pool History, Strategies, and Legends by Mike Shamos
Shooting Pool: The People, The Passion, The Pulse of the Game by Mike Shamos
Here's a link to find the best deal on pool/billiards books: http://www.cheapestbookprice.com/?s...earchfortext=billiards&search.x=28&search.y=7
You can find all the books listed (eventually) through Amazon, half.com, etc., except Bet High and Kiss Low; you'll have to go to Grady Mathew's website to buy that one: http://www.gradymathews.com/ Good luck in your search.
