What type of shaft is this?

I have a thread with photos in the main forum asking about locating a shaft or one having one made for this old, inexpensive cue, but I don't know what to ask for when seeking a shaft. I was hoping someone can tell me what to ask for.

I have a pair of Schon/Joss joint protectors.....the shaft protector fits fine, but the threads on the butt joint aren't long enough to contact the threads on the butt joint protector to get started. So the threads are 5/16x14 I assume, but the shaft has wood that extends down into the joint on the butt, so a flat face shaft, or a smaller protruding brass section such as on a Schon joint probably won't work??? I think this is called a "piloted joint", but yet different from most modern standard piloted joints with the smaller brass section on the shaft, and not as deep of a recess in the butt joint.

So here are the photos.....what do I ask a cuemaker for, or post in a wanted ad when seeking a compatible shaft?
Also would this be the same shaft as on the 'Brunswick Titlist' cues?

Any education on this is appreciated.

Ask someone at your local pool hall to borrow a 5/16X14 and try it on. Since the pilot on newer shafts is smaller like you said, it should fit.

I would like to do this, maybe I'll get the opportunity.

Judging from the pics, looks like a Rich style cue, which would be 5/16 x 14 with a long pilot.

It does look similar to a Rich cue, but most of the ones I have seen have pointed tip on the pin as opposed to a flat tip. Did some Rich cues have a flat end pin?

The ones I have dealt with did not have a point, what does the rest of the butt look like? Either way, it's a 5/16x14 and the butt would be required to be sent to the shaft builder so the pilot can be made to fit properly. It's not an off the shelf item.
