I ordered all the parts today.
i'll just build it for my own.
full oak, real pooballs.
what ive changed:
as im using 2 sets (1 for training, 1 for entertaining friends) ive added a place to save a ball set (in 2 rows) and i now have 2 rows extra on the left to put all my talk, chalk, buffer, etc..
the rod got longer (i think i now have around 1 feet of free rod) so the score is easyer to see (thx snapshot) as there is more rod to move the balls around.
i added 2 plates to stick nameplates on the chalkboards.
total size;
length: 6.50 feet
hight: 2.75 feet
wide: 2"
total cost: +- 160$ in material (shipping included)
it will be mounted against the wall.

Not to sound like a rude guy here, but I am not going to pay that for something that I can make myself. I don't know about anyone else in here, but if I can build it then I would do it myself. Besides I wouldn't want the score counter to be that big anyway! I don't want something taking up a whole wall. I would rather have a mini version that I can put up above the pool light or hang it on the wall without taking up all my picture hanging room!

One thought: never underestimate the cheapness of the typical pool player. Wooden beads on a string go for $6. I do realize you are offering a much much nicer alternative to a gameroom. Maybe offer a lower cost and simpler version too?

i was just checking IF there is a market.(maybe for myselve, maybe for a friend, maybe for someone who reads this, just a question i was askingmyself, as i know how cheap some poolplayers can be
) , the poll prove me right. with an average of around 125$ for what the market is willing to give vs what it would really cost to build it and have a profit (at least 250$+), but i already have a fulltime job (that pays way more then what selling these counters ever will), and my freetime i spend it ALL on pool (whats left is for the misses) i dont think i would have the time to make it, but i was just curious.
im ONLY making this one for myself, and as my goal was to try to make something good BUT cheap, (wich i couldnt, as the material alone is already 160$) there is no point in continuing an "eventual" sale for myself.
ill just make it, ill post ALL the info and plans for those who want to build it yourself with pictures once finished, and thats it
I hope it inspires others to make some counters too.

it is pritty big for a typical homeroom. its even bigger then i wanted it at the start, but at least now it has everything I need/want. hard to make it much smaller...
the smallest 14-1 strings are already 4 feet.
15 real poolballs = almost 3 feet..
ps there is someone on this forum who makes portables 14-1 counters in a small wooden chest. they look GREATH!! and are ALOT cheaper then my idea.
do a quick search and you should find it.
Solartje, Don't worry to much about the cost (within reason of course) there are plenty of players who would spend $500.00 or maybe more to have this in their home game room. Look at it this way - plenty of players have 5K + tables in their homes. They play with cues worth hundreds of dollars. The game rooms themselves can cost thousands to build. these guys aren't going to worry about a 4 or 5 hundred dollar rack. JMO.
On the other hand there are plenty of guys who wouldn't spend more than $5.00 but that is not the market you are trying to capture.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but if you're building these to sell and ship.......... you'd better think about the WEIGHT.
Oak, wire, two sets of balls, beads, etc. is going to weigh ALOT.... imo
