What would you do in this situation?

Tried it...ended up with this:

I tried this shot...and I did this:

START(

%\C5J3%eC5`9
)END

...and ended up like this:

START(
%F[6B2%GM7E8%HS6E2%Ir5V0%PP5I2%eC5`9

)END

Very agrresive shot to break the 7-8 from the 6 like this, but nice easy finish to the rack. I must say, this shot requires breaking the 7-8 cluster at just the right angle using just enough right-side, so I was a little lucky, but it worked! :)

That might have crossed my mind, but I felt I had a better margin for error by drawing across with low left. Also, Celtic, come to think of it, the angle in the wei table, there is plenty of angle to do what I illustrated. Look at the angle of the tangent line by hitting the 6 thick and cheating the pocket, it's plenty of angle to juice the cueball up enough to get under the 7. In fact, you can even get on top of the 8 with that angle. It's kind of hard to see when you look at the wei table, but if you really look at it you will see what I'm talking about.

To this day I still don't understand how I hit the shot so bad that I almost scratched in the corner. I could practice that shot and get to where I want probably 8 out of 10 times. It's especially easy since you want the cueball to stop on or near the rail. The CB hitting the first rail helps take alot of speed off the shot, and hitting the 2nd rail should pretty much kill it, so long as you use a medium stroke.

Ah well, you live and you learn. My nerves were fried that day. That cut shot on the 7 ball in the side that I rattled and missed, I practice that pretty often. When I was surveying my options I really liked just shooting for it in the side because I just had to use a center ball stroke and I would get natural and near perfect shape on the 8 ball. The CB hits the side rail, and once it hits the top rail it has reverse english on it from the rebound and it straightens out and heads almost in line towards the 8 ball, so your margin for error on getting good position on the 8 ball is huge, almost impossible to screw up, just so long as you don't baby the 7 ball in lol.
