I am in 300 a set 9 ball action race to 8. I lose the first set and am I'm winning the second set 7 to 4. I break he runs out. I lose the next rack and now it is 7 to 6. He makes a real tough shot on the 9 to make it 7 to 7 and starts chirping at me. Telling me how good he hit it. I don't say a word and keep my composure and get out the last rack to win.
Now I start barking at him to raise the bet. Next thing you know I am playing race to 11 for a dime. It is 2 to 1 mine and I play safe. I hook him just behind the 9 and he has a slight masse' to hit the 4. He masses around the 9hits the 4 but his cue stick hits the 9 driving it up table. The 9ball is headed at a very good rate of speed at the 4 and 7 ball. He reaches across the table and grabs the 9ball in motion and puts it back.
I said that is a foul the 9ball was moving, which was obvious, and he said I hit it with my cue and wanted to put it back. I said it was moving you can't grab a moving ball and if you did hit it with the cue you must wait for it to come to rest and I will let you know if I want it moved back. He refused to give in and said cueball fouls only. I said I will accept nothing less than CB in hand. Anyway I had a roadmap out with BIH and he didn't want to give in.
The house called foul and he still wouldn't give in. He got exactly what he wanted I quit. He wanted me to quit because he was out of his league betting 1k and his wasn't comfortable.
Question - 1. Should I have given in and kept playing?
2. What non violent action would you have taken?
My thoughts were if I let him get away with it and he won that rack I may never recover. Although I wanted to play so bad because I felt like I had the best of it. In the end, I learned a lot about him and needless to say we will never play again.
