Whatever happened to Steve Allen, the author of The Hustler's Handbook?

Just curious. I bought the book when it first came out, and I have been rereading it 23 years later. I was curious if the guy who wrote the book is still around? Does anyone know?

I posted this a few days ago, and messaged a couple of people on FB that I thought might know if Steve Allen is still writing and playing pool, but no luck so far.

Interesting, this says it's the same Steve Allen that was a comedian and died in early 2000's? That seems crazy.
