Imagine the cue ball hitting the object ball head on like a stop shot, but with hard left or right hand english.

will it still throw the object ball even though its not a cut shot, and will the cue ball deflect to either side.

I tried it but cant tell if Im hitting the ball perfectly straight on or not

The easiest way that I've explained this to other players is, picture 2 bottle caps, when they come in contact with each other while spinning, the spin transfers to the other in the opposite direction. So, the answer to your question is, yes, it will throw the object ball left or right, depending on how much spin and how hard you hit the shot. I like to use these shots when I don't have quite enough room to get around a ball in the way but a masse isn't necessary. Just spin the ball and it will throw it in the right direction. Did I explain this thorough enough? It's hard to do w/o showing you. Hope this helps, peace.
