I just got a Lucasi cue with one used shaft and a brand new shaft. both with the unilock system. Now what is the best way to remove the discoloration on the shaft and the chalk on the furrel. Please help make my shaft look better. Are there any kind of special weapons to prevent this or anyhting to use other then sanding the cue cause i want to keep it a perfect as possible. Also i use a glove from sir joseph cause my hand sweats profusely so hopefully it wont get as bad when im done.

Thanks,
Chuck

I have been playing 40 years, have used cues cleaners and polishers, etc.., but
the quick way is to use a kitchen cleaner, such as Comet spray or I like the new Orange cleaner out on a rag or paper towel and clean your shaft and ferrel
(they will take all the blue off of it - good pool players keep their ferrels clean), and then spray Pledge or Old English on a clean rag or paper towel and go over your shaft with it.

I do this once or twice a week, and it keeps my shaft and ferrel clean and smooth. It is better to use chemical cleaners on your shaft than to sand it with anything. I ALWAYS do this before playing any tournaments, and check my tip to make sure it is good to play.

The only way to to get a discolored shaft looking good again is to let a
professional cue maker refinish the shaft for you, which will cost you from
$10-$20 a shaft.

Thanks for the info. I actually used some bath tub and tile cleaner and it worked pretty good. it made the ferrel look brand new and the shaft itself almost look new as well. I did this all at work.:D

Ronsonol lighter fluid works really well. The liquid (like for a Zippo lighter), not the freon type of course.

Use a soft cloth like others have said.
