Here's the story: My local pool hall has this deal where if you buy $2.50 in food, you get free pool between 11am-5pm. This is a steal, because otherwise pool is $6.00/hr. So, the past couple weeks I have been doing this and I have noticed slow improvements in my game.

Well, I just got a job finally which will have me working between 6:30am and 4:30pm, so I'm pretty much screwed. Once I get home from work it will be past the time that I can have free pool, and I have a gf to attend to (I doubt she'll want to go down to the poolhall everyday). So, my schedule is greatly restricted. I have fridays (sat and sun too, but that doesn't matter becuz the deal is only mon-fri) off, so I can play on that day.... but that's it.

Needless to say, I'm really sad that I can't play much anymore because I was slowly seeing improvements. I know this is pretty much a bitching/ranting thread... but it had to be done

If anybody has a suggestion for a instructor (if you know any in the alton, illinois area), maybe that would help. If I had an instructor every friday, that would probably be equal if not better than me playing by myself every day.

Isn't one of the reasons why you get a job to be able to pay for certain things in life that are now affordable? Go after 5:00 and pay for it, you'll feel good about yourself. As far as the gf goes, break her in right by letting her know that you need 3-4 hours every week to do your thing with a sport that you were involved in long before meeting her. If you have to coddle her every minute of every hour, it's going to be expected for life and you'll be in a state of subservience forever.

How far is Alton from Bellville? I have a good friend in Belleville who happens to be a real good player. He may be interested if it's not too far.

I feel kinda bad though. My dad used to be semi-pro (has about 40-50 trophies layin around in the basement) but he just up and quit one day and hasn't really "played" in about 10 years (he messes around with me every once in a while). I feel bad that he's not the one teaching me, but I need to learn some how and he has no time now that he's balancing two jobs.

Well, I was thinking more than 3-4 hours a week, but i'm sure she won't be a problem. I'll just use most of my time from 11am-5pm on friday since i'm off and maybe go a couple times for an hour a piece during the other days.

There you go...see how easy that was. Where there's a will, there's always a way. Just stick to your guns and don't let any bitchin' down the road deter you.
