when shooting a jump shot...

do you look at the cueball or object ball on your final stroke? What about when shooting off the rail? At different times one or the other seems to work better for me. I always hear you must see the object ball rolling in pocket.I am just wondering how the pros' approach these shots.

thanks,

Re: to jump shot question

I can't imagine looking at the cue ball last on any shot, but some players do watch whitey while breaking playing 9-ball. My preferance is to never look at whitey last no matter what the shot may be, you could be on to something however when visualizing where the cue ball will land when executing the jump shot.
I hope this helps but I must add that it takes more feel and skill to kick rather than to jump at it with a phony phenolic tip, this and other elements have hurt the quality of the game. Jump with a leather tip, as the phenolic tip has been outlawed from certain tours, any other way is uncivilized or as Earl Strickland would say be a man Ha Ha.
Sincerely 'little Danny'

I seen where you said the tip has been banned in some tours is it the one piece tip ferrule(sledge hammer) or the standard ferrule and phenolic tip (jerico), because I know at least a dozen pros switched to jericos stinger J/B cue if they are banned kind of a waste of money don't you think?

RE Pool Hall Junkie

When the Phenolic tip first became popular it was outlawed by one of the major tours here in the midwest where I live, since then I believe that the rules have been revised and the phony phenolic ferruled tip is legal. I think the room owners like it better because it makes the jump shot so much easier and as a result there is less torture on the cloth. I was playing Efren in a tournament about 1yr. ago and saw him use the jump cue for the first time, I like the jump shot if you can shoot it with your playing cue only otherwise it's a circus shot in my opinion. But I'm a bit old fashioned I guess that is why the AZ billiards person behind the curtain labeled me a (Senior Member,) although I am a relatively young man and am not of hispanic decent.
