You could do a search of ball set preferences on here and find out all the opinions you ever need. This topic keeps getting repeated way too frequently, as apparently many posters aren’t aware of the search topic function.I am looking at buying some new balls for my home table. I have Centennials now but was wondering if the Aramith with the Durasmith finish would be better?
Why change? Might get a new CB but in home use you'll never wear out Centennials. Duramith is supposed to leave fewer burn marks and skid less but i doubt you'd ever really notice tis.I am looking at buying some new balls for my home table. I have a set of Centennials which are nearly 30 years old, and have not found anything better.I am looking at buying some new balls for my home table. I have Centennials now but was wondering if the Aramith with the Durasmith finish would be better?
Centennials are a great set , if yours are in good condition, your not going to notice a huge difference in play by purchasing a new set.I am looking at buying some new balls for my home table. I have Centennials now but was wondering if the Aramith with the Durasmith finish would be better?
30yrs old is getting up there even for good phenolic balls. Might get a new 1b if you play a lot of rotation games as it takes a beating and gets smaller over time. Same for CB. Rest of the set is still probably fine if the 30yrs was all home use.I have a set of Centennials which are nearly 30 years old, and have not found anything better.
He gets a pass as long as he’s on the orange teamI can't help you out, as I prefer what you have now.
Asking about pool balls on a pool forum? The nerve of this guy.![]()
Have you now shame. The man is going to trade in his classic DB9 for a Prius.Predator Arcos.
A bit more - even a single platter Diamond is now $600-$700 with shipping, a dual platter Diamond is now nearly $1K with shipping.Depends on the age of the Centennials. As Garzar mentioned, if you play a lot of games with the 1 ball at the front, they do wear down over time. My centennials lasted about 20 years before they began to get a lot of contact marks and had to be cleaned more often. I suppose the finish from the late 90's was finally wearing out. I just bought a new set of Centennials!
I also have a set of Duramith and I absolutely agree there is NO difference in playability or wear in home use. I know that most here say the Centennials are = to Super Aramith Pro, but I just can not tell a difference in burn marks, cleanliness or playability between the two sets.
I also own a set of Arcos II. Again, most here say they are = to SAP. Aramith says they are SAP. If you email Predator, they say that is not the case. Who knows. I just know I LOVE the Arcos II balls. Again, all same super shine and playability, but the Arcos II seem to stay the cleanest the longest without needing any work.
Finally, in the new era, I own two different sets of Dynaspheres and they are absolutely amazing. The lowest set, Tungsten, is just as durable as my super high end set of Palladiums. You just can not go wrong with them.
With about 22 total sets now, I rotate every few days to a week just to keep it fun and interesting. Someone here mentioned that a really good ball polisher is about the same price as a high end set of balls these days. That might be the best investment of all. I LOVE mine.
Nothing, mine are 29 years old and look great. He gets a pass as long as he’s on the orange team
He’s got centennials, what’s better?
That’s wonderful. They are such good balls. 29 is fine for home use l, I’m certain they are still perfect.Nothing, mine are 29 years old and look great.
A Clean Gleem 8 ball machine is only $350. And the 16 is $550 I believe. I have had mine almost 2 years and it's a great cleaner.A bit more - even a single platter Diamond is now $600-$700 with shipping, a dual platter Diamond is now nearly $1K with shipping.
I have noticed though, it seems I need to clean them more often now than I used to. Of course there's the chance I/m pickier now than I used to be. I wonder sometimes if new ones would look clean longer. That’s wonderful. They are such good balls. 29 is fine for home use l, I’m certain they are still perfect.
Idk where my oldest set is, I might have sold them. My newest set is 14-15 years old.
Imo the best balls ever. I also like the blue circle CB that comes with them the best.
Even in commercial use they last years and years
Definitely want the 5 to be orange lol. I want a new set because mine all have small dings or chips in them. They are 18 years old and gone through 2 teenagers and myself playing. Might even replace the cloth just to freshen up the table before it is really needed as well.
If you spin them up real good in a good cleaner, I’m my experience they stay clean as long. But maybe I never noticed. As long as I don’t get bad contacts or skids it’s ok with me.I have noticed though, it seems I need to clean them more often now than I used to.
