Which Custom to Buy ? **Help**

Which ever one I go with it will be very plain cue (due to a tight budget) with a wood (no wrap) grip. The makers are

- Tim Scruggs
- Dan Dishaw

If these two do what you're looking for, they would be at the top given your list. But, I've not seen a plain Dishaw cue, and Tim no longer does SP's.

i would get a scruggs or a hunter.the hunters hit great and they are flat-faced which i prefer.harder to find a flat faced scruggs.i would not mess with arnot except for jump/break.

Hmmm... Timmy switched to flat-face as a preference several years ago. It's the hit he prefers.

If you manage to get past the fact that you won't amount to anything unless you get a gina, I'd suggest checking out bob frey in MD. He was a longtime part of the scruggs operation and went solo. His sneaky's go for around 250-300 and imo they play great - in fact, frey made a lot of the scruggs sneaky's. You can get a custom from him for around your price range, assuming his prices haven't gone up too much.

Dishaw makes a nice Highly figured Maple with or with out wrap fpr $899. As for scruggs he has a used Maple with out grip for around $900.

Thanks everybody for the posts, but I will be going for the Dishaw first unless I can try out the others this monday. I will be in Toronto and there is a local collector that always stops by the pool hall with a case full of mid - high end cues.

Thanks again.

I have many high end cues. I recently had Dan Dishaw build me a cue, and he's easy to deal with and does nice work. You won't go wrong with a Dishaw. Yes, Tim Scruggs builds a great cue, but so does Dan.

I'd like to place a vote for Viattorre mainly based on me getting mine a couple months ago and I absolutely love it and the price was right I don't know how the Viatorre will do as far as holding value or appreciating but I got a beatiful looking and playing cue. The only knock could be that initaly jackson told me about 4-6 months but it turned out to be about 8 or 9 months I think but it was well worth it.
