J&J have very good J/B cues. honestly, their prices is an understatement for their performance. great cue at a cheap price.

Ohman builds a longer forearm so taller players or players shooting long precise jumps can still use good form. I find nothing allows me to cut with accuracy better than an Omen when I jump balls.
As for the break, I can control the rock and crush the rack. Omen also customizes his jump cues to match your playing cue. Wood or inlay patterns can be matched.

Just considering performance a Varney J/B is the best I've found. Considering integrity and whatever else I would just get a Predator BK2 if I were you. Or a Gilbert... that's probably where I'll be getting my next one once I have the $$$$.

My 2 cents...
If your budget is under a $100, stick with the JJ. Impressive JB for the price.
If your budget is higher, the Jericho Stinger is a great buy. If you keep an eye on the boards you can usually get one in the $200-250 range.
In the $350+ range you could start looking at custom builders (ie. Gilbert, Varney, etc)

i got to try a sledge hammer last nite although i only broke maybe 15 times with it , thought it was so so . very noisey too. and the owner was trying to swap me for my j&j , he must not like it too much either.

I own one of Jim Barkley's (Joplin, MO) jump break cues, it is a fine piece of equipment. I've never heard anyone complain about his cues.
A friend of mine owns a Gilbert that I have had the pleasure of using on occasion. It is also a fine piece of equipment, and never have heard any complaints of his work.
My cousin owns an "old" Sledge Hammer (Gulassey) that he loves the dickens out of. I am not at all excited about the taper on these, but hey, I'm not the one using it.
Like many have said, it is all in the preference of the player.
I'd be willing to bet that any cue maker that enjoys their profession would make a fully functional piece of equipment, you just need to find the style that you like.

If you ever get a chance.. Try a Jerico "whip" by Jerry Powers. He made them for several years and many are out there. They are without a doubt the best JB I have ever used, and I've tried just about all of them. His new "stinger" is supposed to be a monster as well, but I've never tried that one.
The "whip" is plain maple end to end with quick release joints in both locations. It has a phenolic tip that looks like leather but is like granite. Best jumping and breaking I've ever experienced.
