VNEA scratch league.. no handicaps.. therefore shoot in any order....

the options are thus....

#1 send in your top shooters first hoping to bury them early... and face relying on your weakest shooters late when it matters

#2 send the weakest in first and get stronger as you go and face getting beat before your good players ever get to the table

#3 bookends best first, second best last and everyone else in between

#4 something else.... you tell me..

what do ya think?

This depends

on how much difference there is between your best player(s) and worst player(s).

But:
start with 3rd best player (or whoever likes to go first).
play 2nd best player 2nd.
play 4th best player 3rd.
Play best player last (always).

or if against a close opponent.
3rd, 4th, 2nd, 1st

We line up by personalities. Granted we have no "weak sister" on our team. But we do have teammates who would rather lead off or play the "hammer' position. It's were they feel more comfortable or where they are able to contribute the most..........SPF=randyg

Im not familiar with VNEA but can I assume that one team puts a player up first? Then the other team does ect.

If so its all about match ups.

Lots of stuff factors in for us.

Fatigue,"beer windows",skill levels, everything.Consider whos left to play and choose based on all the variables considering not just the match, but the rest of em too. With no handicaps (assuming you know the other team) you should be able to to match up whom you want on whom I'd think.

Of course the other team may feel the same advantage....the devil is in the details.Pay close attention to who comes in late, pratices little, drinks excessivley, seems ready to leave ect....not just on your team, but thiers.

VNEA is Round Robin format. Ex. Round: 1-6 2-7 3-8 4-9 5-10. Round 2: 1-7 2-8 3-9 4-10 5-6. And so on.

I like having the weakest and/or least experienced player 2nd (me!). A lot of teams put the weakest first, but I think having them shoot second takes the pressure off them. If the first player wins, then it gives them the feeling of having a cushion. And if the first player loses, then the weaker player doesn't feel like they are the only schmuck on the team. Of course the best player should be the anchor, but ONLY if they can handle the pressure. There's no CRYING in pool! :crying:

(FYI, I speak from experience, I've had that happen. Our "anchor" started crying after we lost. Happened at TWO tournaments! Next tournament I was the anchor. We still lost, but I didn't cry:p . Next tournament I was on a different team, not the anchor, and we won!)

Away, it obviously doesn't matter til the last round. I like the home lineup in the last round, comfort wise. At home, I like to get a fast start without sacrificing the points in the last spot. Try 1,4,5,3,2-- or 2,4,5,3,1. If you really know your team, put the point getters up front and the clutch players in last. Clutch players give you the best chance in the spotlight, even if they don't get the most wins. Point getters up front may not win, but they will keep you close. JMO Good luck.

thanks everyone...

here is my situation my team has 3 solid shooters... a solid shooters girlfriend and a constantly changing sub.. we have one solid player who subs... but used to be regular... in a pinch we could field 4 solid shooters. on a 5 person team..

but we have at least 1 possibly 2 weak "weak meaning only runs a rack once a month" capable but inconsistent...

where in the rotation does the weak link do the least damage?
