Who Is Going

I ain't mad at ya :)

Doug, if you want to go, then put your name in the hat and go. I don´t see anyone saying that Jimmy and I are going for sure. I just happened to be one of the guys mentioned so far and everyone ran with it. But whoever it is that does get chosen to go, even if it was you, I´d be happy. I just feel like you´re a little pissed off about the whole thing because nobody has mentioned you, except you. If this thing causes problems for anyone, then my name can be taken out of the mix. I just like to play pool and going to the Open on a free trip is the best thing that could possibly happen for me right now, as far as pool goes. If not, I won´t be losing any sleep over it.

No sir Rudy Tudy, I ain't mad. I'm going regardless of who sends who or what, when, where. or how. Actually, I think I'll have more pride in myself if I work hard and save up the money and pay my own way than I would if I got a freebie. Send someone who NEEDS the help is my only opinion, and I don't necessarily mean me, but anyone who NEEDS the help. What good does it do to send someone who is ALREADY GOING? That's just my only opinion, nothing else. No names mentioned or even hinted at. Peace, my brother.

It's Poll Time!

How about somebody starting a poll thread with the names of Satman, Poolplayer1988, Rude Dog, and Jimmy M. I think these four regular AzBilliards Discussion Forum members want to go to the Open, are planning to go to the Open, are thinking about going to the Open, and need a little prodding.

The monies are rolling in now to Donald Purdman. The U.S. Open is three months away. Let's get a poll thread going, unless there are other opinions opposing the poll. Any naysayers? Mr. Purdman? Blud? Anybody?

If Jimmy M. and Rude Dog are so sure they are the two who will be voted to go to the Open, then why is everyone else beating around the bush and heehawing. It is nearly unanimous that everyone wants to send these two, so why even ask "who should we send?" Just cut to the chase, collect the money, have your little straw poll about who you want to go (doesn't matter, we know who's getting the votes), and send'em. Too much BS'ing...

Doug
Seems to me that you are campaigning for this much more than these guys are. I think most of the people are voting for these guys because they post here often on a wide range of topics. You shouldn't get all upset for not getting selected the first time. I am sure it this works out it will happen again, who knows maybe you will get your chance. I don't think crying about it will make people want to send you anywhere.
Just my opinion.

Here we go again...

As I said in an earlier post to Mr. Rude, I'm going one way or another, so it's no biggie to me whether this happens or not. I say, vote for the best player or whoever you want to go, etc. I'm not upset because me going doesn't hinge on this forum or its posts, but my own working and saving money to go. I simply stated that the posters here should send someone who needs the help to go, as opposed to someone who is already going and has the money to go, and that was just my opinion. Peace out, my brother.

When I first read in this forum about sending an AzB sponsored player to the U.S.Open, it was mostly Jimmy M. being mentioned. Then, Rude Dog was mentioned also. I've never heard of, or met, either one of these players. A Poll was taken and 49 people here said that they would contribute $25 to the fund. I originally voted NO, but have since reconsidered and changed my vote to a YES, making AT LEAST 50 people that are/were willing to make a donation. It looked like this movement was picking up steam (with possible Free airfare and a cue to raffle/auction) and I suggested sending BOTH players to the U.S.Open. I wasn't trying to eliminate or bypass any other AzB posters in my suggestion.
Quite frankly, I don't care WHO gets to go. I've already sent in my contribution and we can take a Poll and vote on who gets to go. We can send One or Two players. We can put the names of anyone truly wishing to be considered in a hat and let Mike H. draw a winner(s). Let's don't ruin this opportunity for AzBilliards to 'send' someone to the U.S.Open with any arguing, bickering or pettiness.... Hell, I'll behave and if I can do it, anyone can. imo

Palmares Needed

I think that we should send someone who has a chance at getting in the money. I think that there is no question that Jimmy M and Rude Dog can play, but until we see some documented results attached to folks, I do not think they should be eligible.

I think we should start a new thread in which people who wish to be considered would need to post some tournament results that are verifiable. From that list we can start a poll. I know Purdy has said he will collect/ tally/ report the votes, but I think he's got enough on his plate with collecting and dispensing the money.

I don't have a problem with posting about my playing abilities as I've already stated before that I'm no champion. I play as a strong shortstop, most of the tournaments I've won are not listed in the magazines. I've beat some top caliber players and if the thread gets started I'll be honest. If you know any good players in the In. or Ohio area tell me who they are and I'm sure they probably know how I play. Best of luck to whoever goes. Sam

Yeah- we'll probably need to be a bit flexible with the definition of 'verifiable'. I put the invitation up anyway...

BTW- what kind of pool player are you anyway, up before 9?! :D

I work for a living now. In the 80's I played music and pool for a living. The music business allowed me to work 3-4 nights a week about 4-5 hours a night and put in some of those 12-13 hour days of playing pool. Now i own my own business and have a bar table in my living room. I try to hit balls at least 4 days a week and when theres a tournament coming up, I'll hit about 30 minutes in the morning before I go out to work. I still have a pretty good work ethic as I love to play this game. Sam

Work is a 4-letter word!! But I sure do have a damn fast internet connection!!
