I was reading the earl thread on 14 - 1 and danny said he would come out of retirement, i dont understad, can someone tell me what happened to him, was he in an accident or a health issue that caused him to end his great career, i have been watching danny a long time and saw him win the upa against tony robles in delray beach florida a few years back, i am disappointed to hear about this, anyone that can give me any info would be great,

thanks

Read the thread called"Why I conceded my match against Corey Deuel."

I think he is in good health (lets hope so). I think he was referring to just retiring from playing pool full time to pursue other interest. As good as Danny Harriman is, it is extremly tough to make money in tournament pool and still pay the rent. Even more tougher to play bills, when he mentioned in his other thread that the UPA and other promoters own him thousands from previous events.

I think basically it is the fact that it is so hard, due to the competitiveness, to be financially successful in pool. And then when you add that when Danny did win he got stiffed and didn't receive the money he won. And it happened twice?

I thought by now Berhman had paid off all the players.

And if the UPA can't guarantee a payoff, then what good are they?

We need a song:

"Mothers don't let your babies grow up to be pool players."

I saw danny harrimen about three years ago when he came to south dakota and played him a few sets when he was on the road. he pretty much beat me and he can play. I think he is not only retired but he may have a girlfriend or wife right now and probably be back and play again. keep it up danny ur a hell of a player and u probably remember me when u came to Rapid City SD. and played the kid couple years ago.

Kid,

There had been some discussion here about you being a new young face on the world class player scene. After playing in that tough field in Calgery do you think your game is up to speed on the big tables when compared to the top players?

ALSO some posts that you might play corey duel with a spot...any truth to that?

To obrien

I retired because of the politics of it all, the leading rep for the upa was and has been pressuring me big-time for my $100.00 sanctioning fee when they owe me money, if you have any other questions then feel free to read my first post ever as i'm very new with computers. The thread is here on az billiards "Why I fofeited my match to Corey Duel" I never wanted to be the greatest nine ball player in the world anyway. Plus with all of the changes made to the game including the huge pockets with brand new cloth and special racking devices that promote a soft break I have lost desire to be a competative 9-ball player. I'm not dissapointed in the UPA as much as their leading Rep. who has some sort of inferiority complex, thanks for the positive comments on my Del Ray Beach win that was a big deal for me as was the Grand Central Staion.

I have only retired from the UPA
Sincerely,
Danny Harriman
