When I log in that is. I have to log in each time I get on even if I have checked the "Remember Me" box. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Be prepared to get about 5 different suggestions on things to do. They've worked for some but not for me. Ever since the software was switched over, If I am inactive or typing up a lengthy response, I get booted from the site. It's annoying but I'm used to it.

Good luck. Hopefully one of the remedies will work for you.

Thanks,

If you have your computer set so it doesn't store cookies, that may be the problem. Mine will remember me until I clear out cookies, and then I have to log in again.

Just out of curiosity.... I didn't have these issues prior to the software change. I didn't change any of my computer settings....the only thing that changed was the software... why are people needing to change their computer settings?

This worked for me

just about a week ago-courtesy of Rackmsucker

Go to Internet options and delete temp files and cookies. Next time, log in, check remember me, and it should remember you from then on.

If that doesn't work, make sure your settings allow you to store cookies.

Click on Tools - Internet Options

Click Advanced Settings to make sure everything is enabled.

That the previous version of the software is making certain assumptions when it begins that are DIFFERENT from the assumptions the current version of the software is making when it begins. You take the programmer that wrote the new version, condemn him for 'Software Incontinuity', give him a blindfold, last cigarette, and shoot him. Probably some kid hired after they laid the original programmer off because he was over 40 and had more than 10 years worth of service. That seems to be standard practice for American companies nowdays.

There are lots of variable which could effect the way your computer handles the changes to the website.

It could be come from whatever version of Windows you are using...

It could be coming from whatever Internet Browser you use...

It could be coming from something in the IP settings for whatever Internet company you're using...

I can tell you that in my experience, since I work for a software company... Clearing you cookies and history will help.

Also lots of time when website make changes,.. you should clear your DNS Cache. You can do that by going the command prompt, and typing in IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS and pressing enter. Then reboot. All will be well in the world once again.

I had this exact same problem after The Changeover. I found none of the standard suggestions (Clearing out all Cookies, allowing all Cookies etc.) above worked for 2 different Windows XP Pro SP2 systems I use.

What DID work for me (and this is preferable to allowing ALL sites to add any cookie they want anyway) was to manually add AZBilliards.com to Managed sites using the Internet Privacy settings.

Here's how to do it (Under Windows XP):
1) Open the Control Panel
2) Open the Internet Options control panel
3) Select the Privacy Tab
4) Click the Sites button
5) Type in "http://azbilliards.com" in the Address
6) Click the Allow button
7) Click OK and exit the control panel.
8) Close and relaunch Internet Explorer.

That's puzzling that you had to do that. I noticed that your Privacy settings was set to Medium. Cookies for AZ Billiards should work on that setting, and Medium High.

I was only able to repro the problem when Privacy settings was set to High.

Sometimes the Index.dat file (there's one each for Cookies, History and Temporary Internet Files) gets corrupt, which can cause issues. But you can't really delete it because it's in use. You might be able to kill the Explorer.exe and Iexplore.exe processes but usually there's a handle locked on it.

Easiest way to nuke this under WinXP is to clear the internet cache, then reboot computer, and log in as a different user. Then launch Explorer (or open a CMD prompt if you're a command-line junkie) and navigate to "C:\Documents and Settings\[your-login-name]." In there, you will see a subdirectory called Cookies. Nuke it.

Then log in as your usual self and see if that fixes the trick. It may or may not. I've seen, however, if you ever have a problem clearing your internet History (no matter how many times you clear it, still retains a bunch of sites in your history), the above trick for the History subdirectory fixes it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I agree the issue is odd and, FWIW, it has happened on three seperate systems I have used since The Change. As the solution I found (manually adding AZBilliards.com in the Privacy/Allowed Sites section) has worked I will not bother messing around with the fixes you suggest, but perhaps they can help someone else in the same situation.

What's this change that everyone keeps talking about? A change from one brand of message board software to another brand? Or a vBulletin upgrade from older to newer version?

They upgraded the version of vBulletin about 3 months ago now. Many people who'd never had logon issues before that started getting them after this. In theory clearing the Cookie and Browser cache should have been the solution for everyone, but for some odd reason it was not. Perhaps it is not so much that the new vBulletin software is bad but that the old version was too lax in logon enforcement?

Very well possible.

Check out http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs35.php?do=list&s=&textsearch=&bugtypeid=0&status=20&severity=0&vbversion=3.5.2&assignid=0&sortby=lastreply&sortdir=desc

You can query for bugs (or perceived bugs) and also in vBulletin's forums. I saw some admins posted an issue complaining how users are getting logged out after a certain amount of time.
