If you had new cloth installed, I would think it's just the cloth breaking in and spinning the balls more as they glance off the rail on the way to the pocket. When I got my new diamond last spring, the cloth was really slippery for the first month, and the balls pocketed almost too easy. That all changed, and you have to be much more accurate with your shots. As to rail torque, my rails were quite loose shortly after the installer left, and I torqued them back to about where they should be, but didnt notice any change in how the balls pocketed, did notice a difference in the rebound though. Installer left mine at 8lbs, I'm now at 13lbs, and Diamond says you can go to 15lbs. My understanding is that the Gold crowns are to be set at 8-10lbs or so, as they cannot be torqued like a Diamond can. I would wait till you hear from one of the professionals first though as to rail torque on a gold crown. While I had a inch lb torque wrench to use, quite honestly I would imagine most professional installers just do it by feel. Heck, my installer just used his drill with a socket adapter.
